V475 works perfect.
Whilst out I tried to connect my spotify app to the car via Bluetooth and wasn't getting any sound.
Only realised what was going on when the wife called to ask why the hifi had come on.
The app turned on the amp over the 3g network. I thought it only worked over the same wifi network.
Scared the life out of the wife.
Same thing happened to me, all of a sudden while I was in the other room, the stereo changed over to Spotify, playing my daughter's favorite song. She was 2 hours away.
This is regarding support for x73 receivers:
We have enquired with our sales team with regards to Spotify and our 73 series receivers, below is the response :
Yamaha provided a Spotify Connect update to the RX-V75 series, RX-A30 series, RX-S series earlier this year and will provide a Spotify Connect update to the R-N500 and CR-XN560D HiFi units this spring.
We also intended to release a firmware update for the RX-V73 series but due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to provide an update. Our head engineers at Yamaha Corporation Japan have been working diligently for a number of months on a new Spotify Connect update; but sadly have been unable to resolve the issue which causes an incompatibility between the new Spotify operating system and the older Yamaha network software controller on the RX-V73 series. This is something that could not have been predicted at the time of releasing the original information.
This announcement comes with great regret as we, as a company, are clearly focused on providing exceptional products and service to our customers.
We sincerely apologise for the disruption and inconvenience this will cause some of our customers and we hope that going forward, we can provide more informed information ahead of time.
Hope this helps
Many thanks

i wants spotify for my yamaha rx v 673 !!!
Please when ??
This sounds almost exactly like the response Yamaha gave when I asked why FLAC playback was possible on all receivers but mine.
Call me highly doubtful. At this moment, I am using Spotify via a third party Android app on my RX-V573. It works. Everything about it works. The song title is on the front of the receiver, volume control works. An Android dev can sell me somethng for $6 that works, but giant Yamaha can't figure it out?
I emailed them today about this topic. No doubt, I will get the same response as dr.
I think I may have jumped to fast to a conclusion. Reading more about Spotify Connect, it seems that it does more than Airplay. It works like Chromecast, offloading the receiving/sending to the receiver -- so you don't use battery like Airplay would. So maybe they do have a reason.
FWIW, I got Allstream for Android --

It seems to work well so far, sending to receiver Airplay. Phone volume controls volume, etc. Not quite as convenient as having it in the Spotify app, but pretty OK for $6. Sound is excellent.
By 673, you mean Yamaha 673 receiver? I thought S.C. did not work with x73 series. I have 573 and have not been able to figure out how to make it work. Any suggestions?
No worries. 🙂
I just found another way to skin the cat. 475's are $270 on Amazon; Buy that, sell my 6-mo old 573... I don't use 7.1 anyway. Might even make a few bucks on the deal.
Guys,
Hi All,
I have Yamaha RX-A730 and in last 2-3 days I was trying to connect my Phone/ to Yamaha.
I’m using Linksys router with connections:
- Wi-Fi connection for iPhone and iPad
- LAN connection for Yamaha
I have Premium Spotfire account
Yamaha software was successfully updated and I have Spotify Icon available in menu.
I have access to Yamaha via IE Browser via IP address (192.168.0.15)
I have Yamaha AV Controller installed on my phone and I’m able to use it to control Yamaha or to streamline music from iTunes
Also I installed Spotiamp on my PC and it's working fine (I can control my PC from my phone)
Issue
When I switch Yamaha to Spotify source and than I will open Spotify on my iPhone/iPad – then Spotify client is not able to detect Yamaha device.
As I mentioned AC Controller is working great and is able to get connection with Yamaha.
I went step by step Yamaha manuall and everything looks fine.
I saw that someone else had simillar issue but I didn't find any answer which could help.
any idea? should I somehow register Spotify account on my Yamaha? I didn't get such opiton.
thanks
On Android, it finds it automatically provided they both phone and Yamaha are on same wifi network. I have not tried Apple.
Hi,
I have a Yamaha 473 and still I don't get if I can stream my music from cellphone to this model...
I didn't find the chance through the official Yamaha app.
Which one should I use?
If I can of course...

Have you updated the firmware? I've had a look at the official page for this receiver and Spotify connect isn't mention... maybe it's only available for the x75 and above?
I think I got the last firmware, 1.16
But I can't see any Spotify mention...
Old thread, but figured I would respond. To get Spotify Connect to work between my Android and Yamaha receiver, I had to log out of Spotify on my phone, then log back in, select Settings, Spotify Connect, the Receiver name, then start playing your music. Works like a charm!
Kind an old thread BUT this drives me nuts, I have Spotify Premium account, Android running Spotify v5.4.858 and Yamaha RX-V673 running latest firmware 1.91, in a different forum there's this guy who claims to use this AV model works well with Spotify Connect, however my mobile app doesn’t find my Yamaha receiver... what is it I’m missing here???
Thank you all in advance!!
Best,
Ram
