My Question or Issue

Since about a week every time i open my Spotify app it would work for a few seconds and then start lagging and stop responding and sometimes crashed after.
I have tried the common suggested fixes here (clearing cash, clean reinstall) and nothing worked. The app is currently completely unusable and I have no ideas ow to fix it

Hey @Andizipiert,

Kudos for all the testing you did on your end!

Since the issue occurs only with one specific network, then it definitely sounds like the ongoing one we have reported in this thread. Our tech folks are currently looking into it and we'll make sure to update the thread once we have any news, so make sure to vote for it and subscribe so you don't miss out on any info.

Hope this clears things up and thanks again for all your cooperation!

Hey there @Andizipiert,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

Kudos for the initial troubleshooting. As a next step, we’d recommend you enable the Safe mode on your Pixel, to see if you notice any difference regarding this issue. You can follow the steps in this guide to do it.

If issues persist afterwards, we’d like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The exact Spotify version you’re running.
  • Does this happen when trying to use other apps?
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update, or when trying to play some specific content within the app?

Keep us in the loop!

Did some more troubleshooting and found out more things.
The source of the problem seems to be connecting the phone to a Bluetooth device. After a restart, the app will work fine until it gets connected to a Bluetooth device, at which point it starts lagging and eventually stops working. Disconnecting from the device after doesn't fix the problem. It is also independent of which Bluetooth device, I had the same problem with a JBL speaker and earbuds.

Restarting the phone in savemode doesn't work, as Spotify is not accessible in save mode.
There are no issues with other apps, and there is also no issues with Spotify on my laptop.

I'm also not aware of any OS update just prior to the problem, but i'm not sure about that

App version: 9.0.88.1405

Hey @Andizipiert

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know.

As it seems the issue only occurs when your phone connects to a Bluetooth device, we'd like to try a few more steps to narrow this down further.

First up, could you try resetting your Bluetooth settings? You just need to go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi & Bluetooth. Keep in mind that this will remove all paired devices, so you'll need to re-pair them afterward.

After following those steps, perform a clean reinstall of the app again and check if the issue persist when you connect to a single Bluetooth device only.

If the aforementioned steps don't do the trick, could you check if the same happens when playing your downloaded content in Offline mode

We'll be waiting for your reply.

I did all the suggested stuff but it didn't change anything 😞

However, I have figured out that the problem is not the Bluetooth device but being connected to one specific wifi network. So once I connect to the network Spotify stops working, and when I switch it off and use mobile data or offline mode it works as normal. Also, I don't have the problem if I connect to a different network in another place. But this hasn't always been a problem with this network. It used to work fine some time ago.

I've been having pretty significant lagging and crashing issues myself. I use the most recent version of Spotify. I'm on Android 15 (CMF Phone 1, by Nothing)

Hey @JJFreeze,

Thanks for posting in the thread!

Could you take a look at the suggested steps, as well as requested details in this and this post in the thread if you've not already done so? We need some more details in order to get a better understanding of the situation.

Additionally, make sure to also check the ongoing issue thread as suggested by @Dessi here in case your issue sounds like what other users there have described.

The more info you provide, the better and we're here in the meantime if anything else comes up.
