App will not start (windows 7)

App will not start (windows 7)

My Spotify app on window desktop is giving me an error, however there is no error message or code.

When I open the app it constantlys gives the error sound (about once a second) and the app opens but I can only see the outline of the program and none of the content (see screenshot).

I have restarted my machine and re-installed the app (a few times) but I am unable to restart the router or run the program as an administrator.

Spotify has always given me greif since I began using just over 12 months ago. Most commonly getting error code 14, or not starting in which case I re-install the program and it will work fine, however the current issue is worse. Also it has always (when it is working) giving the indication that there is updates available even though I have just installed it.

This current issue started about 1 week ago

I am using windows 7 SP1 on a toshiba laptop with a premium family account and I am unable to get the version number of spotify but it has just been downloaded

This is very frustrating

EDIT: I can play music through spotify on the web browser however the lack of controls/functions is frustrating.

Hey @PJ_ozi

It's a weird thing going on. Fortunately I can say it's an issue being investigated. 🙂
An user who posted in the link found a possible reason why it's happening.

I think it may be worth giving information about your system in the issue link as well. You're on Windows 7, most of those I have seen are on Win10.

You may find a legible error message when you go to Event Viewer. Choose "Application" under "Windows logs". Sort it by 'Date and time' (by default it should be sorted by that already...). It's likely you may find some warning or error that mentions Spotify.

I hope it gets sorted out soon!

I have the same problem and still looking for a solution 😞

Try Chrissykes78  message in this thread.

It seems that it has to do with roaming profiles. if you are able to, install it in another directory.
