My Question or Issue

My update.json reads:
{"update_path":"C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Local\\Spotify\\Update\\spotify_installer-1.2.74.477.g3be53afe-1297.exe","version_from":"1.2.73.474","version_to":"1.2.74.477"}

I had to change it so that it reads:
{"update_path":"A:\\Programs\\Spotify\\Spotify.exe","version_from":"1.2.73.474","version_to":"1.2.74.477"}

Why did I do this? Because every time I try to launch spotify normally after their update, it wont launch and it just gives me an error 24. I don't want my spotify to be in the default location, I want it to be in the location I want it to be in and I would like to fix the json file so it can update and send the update files TO the A: partition of where spotify is instead of erroring out. Can someone please tell me what I need to do? Cause it's obvious that half the updates just dont update correctly.

Problem:
Press on spotify shortcut > spotify installer launches > spotify installer instantly gives me error code 24 and needs to be shut down > decided to change the update.json path so I dont have to re-download spotify and re-download and setup all my songs for the 3rd time > now wants help to fix error code 24 or figure out how to get it to find the correct installation path.

Hey @thezombiekillr9,

Thanks for reaching out.

We can confirm this is an expected behavior, since Spotify is meant to be installed in the default user directory.

We'd suggest uninstalling the app (removing any remaining folders in both destinations) and installing it again, allowing it to use the default path this time. Moving the installation folder will most likely continue to cause issues.

Hope this helps. The Community will be here if anything else comes up.

I don't want my spotify app to be the default location. I'm tired of everything wanting appdata. Everything being on that drive fills it up too quickly. That's why I want it a different location, plus a lot of people have complicated setups for making sure everything is where they want stuff to be. I have my desktop very organized and separated from my C: drive. I only put things in the C: drive when it's something that needs to be there, like drivers and apps that absolutely will not work if it's not in a specific location, like roblox. That's why I wanted help with trying to fix error 24. Plus most updates will just work, just a select few like the most recent update will pop up error 24.
