Error Code -7

Solved!

Error Code -7

I cannot get my internet to connect with Spotify. When I open the program it presents a loading screen and then goes to black with the message:

Spotify failed to load application content (error code -7). Please verify that you have an internet connection and try again.

My internet is functional and I can load webpages, but it will not connect to the program. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this problem, including:

  • Restarting the computer
  • Disconnecting the Wi-Fi and reconnecting
  • Uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling
  • Running the program as an Administrator

None of these have worked and I continue to get the same message. I can't even find an instance of someone else receiving this error code, which is why I decided to ask for help here. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

If you access the interent through a VPN I think Spotify needs to know where you are to identify you. When you use a VPN you can be anywhere the VPN is pointed to. I am Canadain but I use an American VPN for privacy and to access sites that are sometimes geo blocked. Anyway Spotify wasn't working for me recieved several errors codes 4 and 7 I think. When I quit the VPN service so that I am using my Internet provider locally Spotify worked.  My playlists showed up from my phone and now I can use it on my phone or on my computer...

Hope this answers your question if not let me know I will try and help ....

This topic is showing as solved, but I don't see a solution in the thread.

I have disabled firewalls, and I am not using a VPN.  It seems to be isolated to this computer.  I am able to login to spotify on my phone using the same wireless connection.  But I get either the error code -7 or (when I clike the blue login with facebook button) it rapidly cycles 2 tabs in my browser: first to a Facebook url, and ssecond a url that starts with login.spotify.com/login-auth-success/ (this all happens in a split second and it all it disappears too quickly to capture all of it).

Likely related to this (and confounding) is that my Sonos is unable to play Spotify content from either the phone or the computer.  Amazon and other services work fine.  So it seems like a Spotify problem, not an internet connection problem.

Any ideas?

You say it seems ot be isolated to this compter have you tested this theory? Can you try it on another computer istall spotify and your userid to see how it rects?

Let me know

Thanks

I do not have another computer to try it on, though I do know spotify works on my phone and my kindle when connected to the same wifi networks.

what operationg system do you use? Windows/Mac?  How about trying to uninstalling it completely and reistalling. Also what firewalls do you use if windows maybe the firewall is preventing spotify from working... Mac would not have this issue. I use a Mac latest operating system.. let me know let's see if we can narriw this down...

Hello!

I aswell had this error [7].

I succeed to fix this seconds later.

I will guide you and hope it'll work for you aswell!

1. Visit www.spotify.com

2. Log-in on the website.

3. Click on "Download"

4. Wait and open it up once it's done.

5. Now it should automatically sign you into Spotify.

If not? Well ...

6. Open up your folder where your downloads lands.

7. Open up "SpotifyFullSetup"

8. It should now sign you in to Spotify automatically.

If not? Well ...

9. Make sure you have your webb with spotify.com up and signed it in the background.

If not? Well, then I guess Im not that big help.

I'm sorry!

Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem.  I even disabled my firewall, uninstalled Spotify, reinstalled it and still nothing.  First it says Error Code 4.  Now that I uninstalled and reinstalled it says Error Code 7.  Grrr!

Are you using a VPN by chance, I had the same error codes , when I disabled the VPN I have no problems.. if you do try that.

What I did, was merely quit the porgram on my mac, and when I started the app up again it had me signed in already, I suggest if it's a windows computer that you deactive it from the task manager and start the program up again.

Hi all,

I had the same error. What i did wrong (of all things!) was typing in another email adress and not my username!
Maybe the "@" gave the error? This should have been solved by the technicians though.
Anyway.

Although it probably won't solve the problems of you all, i just wanted to let you now. Good luck.

I have the same error. Spotify can you fix it already - we pay for this service right?

just like all these other people, im having the same problem, i dont know if theres a solution yet but please let me know!

Same problem here, fam. Been happening all day using the Windows App. It happend on work Internet and now on home internet. Web player was working for a while, but now that's stopped working too. I was getting Error Code 4 originally. Then I tried to log out and log back in and I get Error Code 7.

Location is Orlando, FL. WIndows OS. I use Facebook Authentication. Phone app is working fine. It's the Windows app and web app that are broken for me.

EDIT: As of this morning 4/28 the Windows app is working for me again.

I've been having this same error for at least a week.  Spotify please fix - your service is unusable currently

problem solved

Hi, I'd had same problem. Was solved setting the proxy manually in http option, and adding the application to firewall from system and anti-virus.

I cannot get my internet connection with spotify error 7....and other times error 4 ....guys fix it ASAP..THNKS XXXXXXXXURGENT!!!!!!!!!

I`ve solved this problem by changing proxy settings from "Auto Detect" to "No Proxy".
