Horrible new UI, bugs and missing features

Horrible new UI, bugs and missing features

"The UI is like a joke. If you need to explain it, it's not a very good one.."

The new UI is terrible.
1. Very hard to find out which song is currently playing, because everything is gray and only  the title is green. When scrolling on large lists I can't find it.

2. Difficult to navigate. When using PgUp/PgDn on a large playlist it only works for the first 3-4 presses, then it won't respond to any keyboard commands, until I click the mouse. Horrible implementation.

3. After filtering and playing a song, the playlist goes back to the beginning.. ?!? How about going to the song that was playing previously?

4. When at middle of the playlist and I press Ctrl+ F, nothing happens. At least not on screen. If i start typing it will filter.. but.. why?! It should be visible that a filtter box is open...
And many many more..
Not to mention that it works pretty slow on an i7 CPU...

Hey there @mihai331,

Sorry to hear you're unhappy with the changes in the recent Desktop update.

We really appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience! We’re always listening to user feedback, and we will continue to innovate the product experience as we move forward.

Now, regarding the points you mentioned:

  1. The currently playing song should be visible in the Now Playing view in the bottom-left corner. If you click on the artwork, it should take you to the position of that song in your playlist. We're aware that currently this isn't always working as expect and the right folks are working on a fix - You can head over to this Ongoing Issue thread and subscribe, if you'd like to stay on top of things.
  2. We've also passed on the feedback that PgUp/PgDn only works a few times before becoming unresponsive and this is being looked into.
  3. Not quite clear on this one. When you start listening to a song from a filtered playlist, only the tracks from the search results will be played - is this what you mean? If not, some additional info would be helpful.
  4. This we couldn't reproduce on our end. When you press Ctrl+F you should be taken to the top of the playlist. If you're still having issues with this, you can try a clean reinstall, and in case that doesn't make a difference, it'd be great if you could send over a screen recording so we can have a look at what's happening on your end.

Hope you'll find this info useful. For more news, you can check out our blog here and we'd also recommend taking a look at these FAQs.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

So I wrote a large reply wondering why there is little in-house testing at spotify. But when I posted it I got this:

An Unexpected Error has occurred.
Your request failed. Please contact your system administrator and provide the date and time you received the error and this Exception ID: 37FF74E2.
Click your browser's Back button to continue.

So.. yes..

Thank you for your reply. My unhappy feelings are related to how spotify chooses to push alpha software on users who reply on it just working. Apparently the webpage also has bugs. I discovered at least 2 while attempting to respond.

Thank you for the reply.
What works for me right now is going back to the old interface which works well.

Hey @mihai331,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop 🙂

We are sorry to hear that the reply got lost because of the error. This could be due to a timeout. It's a good idea to make sure that you're logged back in to the account when you are replying on the Community.

In case nothing changes we'd suggest you also try refreshing the webpage.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding the new desktop app. Our team heard your voice and we'll make sure that we cover your concerns as we speak about these changes internally.

If you have questions, you know where to find us.
