I read that in addition to video Spotify now has podcasts, but where are they on the desktop version?
Solved! Go to Solution.
A temporary solution can be to play the audio off your desktop through your mobile. You can achive this by playing the podcast on your mobile and through the 'Connect to a device' menu under settings, tap on your desktop so that it displays 'Listening on'.
Having to play podcasts through my phone in my laptop is really a backwards way of accomplishing this goal. It seems that there is a fundmental lack of cohesion between the different opperating platforms. This is seriously making me consider leaving spotify and searching for a more consistant music/video/podcast streaming app. The biggest problem is that this has been an issue for more than a year and still now real solution. There should really be a more clear answer to this question by now.
That's insane, there's no way this can be a difficult addition - certainly not more difficult than implementing podcasts on mobile versions. Has this changed at all since the original post?
It's just nuts that it has been a year and we can't listen to podcasts on desktop. Please implement this! It's hardly a new feature as much as a basic aspect of the app!
This just seems like a lack of effort and caring on Spotify's behalf... If I pay every month for a premium membership I should get access so the full spotify library including podcasts on ALL platforms. End of story
Really a year!!! I had been working around using my phone to put the Podcast on to my iPad but it was stolen last week. Desktop is one thing but how is it not on the iPad yet?
If you use your phone as a remote you can play the pod cast on your PC Destop version of spotify 🙂 Yay for workarounds.
Did you even read the original question? It's about not being able to play podcasts on the desktop app...... which is still not available 😞
Any ETA on this? I would like to be able to access podcasts on my desktop client.
Maybe in another 14 months we might get an answer?
And then another 14 months maybe a fix?
LoL, I can't believe this is still an issue.
Glad I stop paying for this app... well, about 14 months ago.
The way I am able to do it is I just find and play on a podcast on my phone that is connected to the same account as my PC than through my phone I change which device is playing the media and then the podcast starts playing my through my computer
you can listen to podcasts on desktop if you:
1. start listening to the podcast on mobile then,
2. use spotify connect to play it on your desktop
if you don't have ios or android, you can download x86 android and install it on a virtual machine
**bleep** why
+1. For goodness sake Spotify, get your act together.
I found a work around until they fix the problem. If you start playing the podcast on your phone you can then transfer the podcast to your desktop. Kind of annoying but its a solution.
You can queue them up using your mobil and send them to your PC player. Just make sure your pc player is connected first.
