My Question or Issue

I use a VPN for reasons not concerning to Spotify. A few weeks ago several issues with the Spotify app have risen:

 

  • I am unable to play songs from any artist page;
  • Spotify Connect doesn't work unless I turn off the VPN;
  • Podcasts don't load;
  • Liked songs playlist is empty.

Thing I have tried:

 

  • Restarting my computer;
  • Performed a Clean Install of the Spotify App;
  • Used the Windows Store version of Spotify;
  • Logged out and in of my account;
  • Disabled Malware, Ads and Tracking block in the VPN settings;
  • Added Spotify.exe to the VPN split-tunneling feature;
  • All device firmware is up to date;
  • Created a new account and everything works fine even with VPN turned on.

I have been paying for Premium for years now and on the verge of switching to another streaming service since I cannot use a lot of Spotify's features when using a VPN. All other apps work fine, but not Spotify.

I'm having the same issue and it started around the same time as well. Interested to see if you'll get any other response than "Spotify doesn't support VPN". Having a VPN is not so uncommon nowadays, they should support them or atleast give a transparent reason why the app suddenly stopped working with them.

Yeah, no idea why Spotify is the ONLY (that I know of) streaming service that does not support VPNs. I can use the Spotify Web App with no problems when connected to my VPN, no idea why the desktop app is any different.
