My Question or Issue

Lately, Spotify has been freezing in a weird way. Just after starting up the software for the first time since turning on my PC, Spotify will freeze. However, I am still able to play music once it has frozen, either by happening to play something before the freeze occurs, or interestingly by using the options under the 3 dots in the top left of the application. I can also use this to play/pause/skip as the GUI buttons do not work. It also usually causes the main central display to appear with no content, whether that be the list of songs in a playlist or an artist page or the home page. I also cannot close and reopen app. Closing it works fine, but trying to reopen causes an error to appear saying "The Spotify application is not responding". I have to go into task manager and kill about 5 or so Spotify background processes before I am able to reopen. Once I have done this, Spotify runs as normal and I have no issues for the rest of the time my computer is live. As soon as I reboot, the issue appears again and I have to repeat the process mentioned. Please let me know if there is any more info I can provide to try and resolve this.

Hi there @TheSiennaFox,

Welcome to the Community!

Try running a clean reinstall of the app by following the exact steps from this Spotify Guide.

if after that the app is still freezing like that, can you try to disable Hardware acceleration from the Settings.

Let us know how you get on with this.

I have the same problem. Sorry, but shouldn't you try to fix these errors? Seems like the only suggestion you guys have is reinstall spotify. (I've tried btw, multiple times since I've had countless errors with Spotify. It didn't work)

Hi @Wotz2K,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

Does this issue occur when Spotify is set to run at startup? If yes, try disabling it in the app's settings, then restart your PC and start Spotify manually.

In case the issue persists, try running Spotify in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking to see if it's present there as well.

Keep us posted on this.

Take care.
