My Question or Issue

Randomly every 3-5 songs ish, my time bar will be locked to 0:00 and won't show me the progress of the song playing. The song still plays fine, but it won't show me the duration/progress into the song. The only way it can be fixed is to change the time into the song by clicking on the time bar. Then, the time bar updates as normal and shows me the progress of the song until the issue occurs again. It only happens on my PC, and does not happen on my iPhone.

Hey @iue-o9p800_ib,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Let's start with a clean reinstall of the app as this resolves most of the common issues by making sure you're running a fresh installation of the app. Here is how to do it.

Also make sure to try a different source for the desktop app - switch between the Microsoft Store and the Spotify site.

Are you able to reproduce this issue on a different PC? What's the Spotify version you're using?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

This has happened to me for years across every independent Windows machine I've ever used Spotify on, and happens perhaps every few weeks. I haven't identified anything that specifically triggers it to happen. Manually seeking doesn't always fix it for me but restarting the app will until it happens again. Re-installing or updating obviously hasn't helped in my case, the bug has been present across years of Spotify versions.

Hey @sangre,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

In this case, we'd like to gather as much info as possible. Can you share with us the exact make/model and OS of your device along with the Spotify version you have installed?

On another note, did you notice if this is happening with specific albums, tracks or podcast episodes or does it happen independently of what you're listening to?

Lastly, is this happening over WiFi? 3G/4G? Both? Do you notice any difference if you switch the internet red you're using?  You can create a hotspot from your phone. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Keep us in the loop!
