Your Library cannot be expanded via mouse/keybinds beyond a certain point

Your Library cannot be expanded via mouse/keybinds beyond a certain point

Plan: Premium

Country: US

Device: Dell Desktop

Operating System: Windows 10

My Question or Issue:

When I use Spotify on desktop, I like to keep my view split between the album/playlist on the right, and my library on the left. Now currently, the library view takes up a three-wide grid showing less of my library and making the playlist/album section too large. Wondering if this is a bug or a change that's here to stay.

Still no improvements or way to revert this awful change.

spotify better change this, i swear im going to switch to apple music if they keep adding horrible changes like this

Gonna add my 'please oh gosh change it back' vote,

Please I just wanna expand my library to be bigger, not this narrow column or even that not so great expand button that then covers over the main content area.

Thanks guys, otherwise doing a great job so far.

Such a stupid change. Since the days of Mp3s I have ALWAYS preferred that MY library, MY collection be the PRIMARY experience of any music app. It seems Spotify would rather me be obliged to look primarily at whatever the algo has in store for me that day--and I was already compromising by conceding half my screen to them. Now they insist my library gets 30% max on default. Entrance-through-the-giftshop**bleep**.

Welcome to the tiktokification of all digital spaces.

The canvas playback window, together with artist pictures and bio, is enabled by default to open every time you press play on something, forcing you to watch the videos and thus giving more engagement to the platform. It's a bleak reality and there isn't much to do, as this passive aggressive way (we're not forcing you to do that, just making it more inconvenient to avoid it) of doing things is how big tech companies operate.

I have installed an older version of Spotify that still allows me to have it look like I want it to, and have to re-install it every now and then when the app decides to automatically update.

Why has this feature now been partially taken back? Since a few weeks my Your Library is limited to a max of 3 columns, while I used to be able to drag it out to at least half the screen with many more columns.

I hope it's a bug and not a new UI "improvement"? Literally makes the UI less user friendly, provides for a worse overview and much more empty space.

It would be a piece of cake for Spotify to reverse this change!
But why should they? Because only "some" users are complaining here?
Spotify could easily get the impression that most people like it! 🙄

I was just confronted with this irritating change, 'Your Library' being limited to three rows' width rather than half the screen as I had it before. Now the tiny sliver of Your Library view is incredibly dense yet requires much more scrolling, whereas the Album view taking up the entire rest of the screen is almost entirely empty space.

(Have we also lost the ability to change the size of the album covers somewhere along the way?)

Every single day I come to work and have to deal with this insane interface I wanna punch the monitor

I moved to Apple Music today after struggling with this issue for the last few months. I've been using Spotify for ~10 years until today. If they fix it back, I will consider coming back. This change made the app unusable for me and needs to be reverted. It doesn't make sense to not let users adjust the size of sidebar after being previously able to do so.

I will be doing the same. Spotify has really shown they do not care for the user lately. With this issue and now this useless “create” button on mobile that moves the entire navigation around. They’re seemingly actively destroying their UI/UX.

Again still waiting for a reversion of this change. The new UI is just so much worse to use. There is a delay using the arrow at the top that wasnt even there on the old version. It takes MULTIPLE SECONDS for the UI TO REACT after i hit the button. Not to mention the fact that the ability to browse playlist WHILE VIEWING THE LIST OF TRACKS WAS COMPLETLY LOST. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY SEARCH THE PLAYLIST. CLICK IT. WAIT FOR THE WINDOW TO EXPAND. OOPS WRONG PLAYLIST GUESS I GOTTA WAIT AGAIN. And in one quick update spotify absolutely DESTROYED the useability of their app AGAIN FOR NO APPARENT BENEFIT WHATSOEVER. AND THE RESPONSE FROM SUPPORT IS A JOKE

Same here. I made the error to clic on the reduce Library and now i can't drag that hand-bar more than 3 columns max. That total expand Library button is cool but I want to keep control on that handbar and decide what size i want between the library and the album i'm playing. That's totally dumb. It's not an improvement at all! Capture d’écran 2025-06-11 à 20.25.45 copie.png

I'll only look at this nonsense for a few more weeks, then I'll cancel my account if nothing changes. It really boggles the mind how you can mess up a UI in such a negative way without need or reason.

What did Spotify write? Just an idea from the developers. They like to let their imaginations run wild...
But nobody wants it! Maybe someone should explain that to the developers in their ivory tower...😫

I hate this change so much. Please revert it I beg. I have a 9:31 ratio screen and there is so much wasted space. Why remove functionality and customisation?

Well I gave it longer than a month but today I've unsubscribed from Spotify Premium and moving to Apple Music. Spotify has proven they do not care about the user and continue to make poor UX/UI choices while shoving stuff I don't want in front of my face. It's been great while it lasted!

This update is a terrible UX/UI choice. I had 6 across for years and it was perfect, but now there is so much wasted space and takes longer to navigate my library.

Please revert back.

Spotify can't understand why this view annoys us so much.
Maybe they speak a different language?

Just got rolled out to me. Terrible UI. The now playing in the middle panel is so stretched with empty space, and the useful section I actually use in the library is tiny.

How can a UI designer think this is good? It's removing a resize option for absolutely no reason.
