[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

Hi. Any updates on this? I don't think this feature needs over 2 years of consideration and development. It's a pretty basic feature that should've been included.

Oh my god what is taking so long. This is so basic. It's like forgetting to implement a play button... what is so important that its not being taken seriously?

Perhaps they want us to install a desktop client? Who knows...

Maybe we should just start tweeting regularly using a hashtag like #spotifydoesNOTcare.

I wrote Spotify an email regaring rearranging my playlist, and they emailed me back with instructions that don't work. So I wrote back again explaining that you cannot do this with Android.  The next reply was a walkthrough on how to uninstall, clear cache, and re-install the app so that this feature will work for me.  This itself PROVES that Spotify customer service thinks the feature already exists.

I wrote back again to explain that you cannot do this with android AT ALL with any device.  They wrote back a third time and said...

"We've taken a look backstage and we can't see an option where you can manually sort music in a customized order using an Android device.

If you think this is also something other Spotify customers would think is a good idea, be sure to add it to our ideas board. Those who also support your idea can then vote on it or add to the conversation. (Please note, the Community is currently only available in English.)

We’ll be sure to pass your suggestion onto the right folks here at Spotify and we'll keep everyone updated on the status of your idea."

What blows my mind is that there is an actual setting in android app to arrange by "custom".  Why would Spotify want to confuse their customers/users by having a "custom" setting without having any means to actually customize??  That's like having a "download" setting to save songs for offline mode but no way to actually pick which songs you want to download.

Meanwhile, my partner takes out his iPhone to show me how easy it is for him to arrange his playlists.  Fuming.

I see that this has been an issues for 3 years now.  Still unresolved.  This is a function that is as basic as PAUSE and PLAY.  I can only imagine that nearly every single Spotify user for Android has, at one point, wondered why the heck they can't rearrange playlists.  ISN'T THIS THE WHOLE POINT OF USING AN APP LIKE THIS????

I'm creating an YouTube video that shows how stupid this is.

Yeah this is stuck in some kind of development **bleep**.

It's such basic functionality that most people at Spotify must assume it's already there, and most (non android) users already have it.

And because it's such basic functionality, no developer is going to get excited about pushing it forwards.

We're traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaped.

(Haha, the word that's been bleeped in my previous post was only the opposite of "heaven" - I don't want you thinking I'm getting too irate here...)

Please let us know when it is published so we can reference it on tweets,
emails, FB or whatever we use to make them understand that this is
incredibly wrong just like not having the play button on an app that plays
music 🙂

Spotify needs to do one of two things:

#1:  Remove the option for "custom" sorting to stop confusing their users.

-OR-

#2:  Actually let you customize the sorting, since you just F****** clicked on "custom" for sorting.

Option #2 definitely makes more sense. Building playlists is pretty much why people use apps like this.

Did anyone else waste hours of their life trying to sort their music after joyfully finding the "custom" setting?

The thing that really bugs me about this is that this thread started nearly 3 years ago.

I...just...can't....think of a reason that they haven't seen this thread and realized how insane this is.

I've given up on this now.  Let my Premium run out and jumped back on Google Play Music.  There arern't any noticable gaps in song libraries now so I'd rather use the app that allows me to listen to music more convieniently.  The lack of attention for Android users is really disappointing.
