Remote control.

Hello,

It could be great to be able to remote control my computer Spotify app from the Spotify mobile device app. (iPhone un my case)

Now that Connect has officially been announced and started rolling out, I'll mark this as implemented.

Another downside to remoteless etc is that you need to buy them for each account in your household. Meaning that the wife and I would need one license each, perhaps another if we mix Android and iOS devices (we do).

And then there isn't a good option to control the Spotify App on på windows PC from my Mac, as far as I know. A HTML-based solution could run anywhere, and I for one would love it 🙂

This would be great... like the itunes remote.

I have used remoteless but it is glitchy. If the computer is locked, the remote wont work properly, only basic controls like volume will work.

This is a feature which is needed for spotify!

Perfect idea.
It could be done as follows:
In the mobile app, simply select  "Playing device".

Chose between "This phone", or "Desktop PC" or "Living room tablet".

Android please 🙂

I would love a real remote control functionnality, like Rdio does ...

And I would even go further 🙂 The main player, which is plugged to your speakers could be in party mode (see idea of party mode here), and should allow everyone to add a song from his own spotify account to the playlist from his smartphone using the spotify app. Or maybe even just having some music files on his phone. Another option could be to add a vote system for the party playlist to allow people to change the playlist order by voting, avoiding manual ordering.

So Reemote no longer updates playlists - it says for free users only, but I have an unlimited account and it doesn't work for me either. Apparently this is down to a change on the desktop version of Spotify. Can anyone at Spotify comment on this? I am a paying customer, and would like to have this functionality back - otherwise I might as well go back to free too...

This would be great as it would eliminate the need for some users to purchase a "sonos" system. They can merely pipe the music through one stereo system with all speakers in a house being wired to it. Then you can control the music from any room!

This should be expanded to allow playback to be controlled from other laptops/PCs. If I start playing spotify on one PC, it would be great to have the option of letting another PC/laptop/phone take over the control of playback. So if I move from room to room, I can still modify playlists, playback, etc.

The idea of having multiple devices play the same music simultaneously has been eluded to in this topic. But a topic with a better description needs more attention and kudos:

"All devices become one sound system": https://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/All-devices-become-one-sound-system/idc-p/377664#M252...

Please visit this topic and give it some kudos so it gains attention. It is more than simply having a "remote".

Not only to control computers. But control other iOS devices like an iPhone to an iPad!! Sort it out guys

I think using spotify mobile app as a remote control for other clients could be a key feature while spotify integrates the client in hardware as recievers that lack of a user friendly UI to manage the client.

For instance; In the mobile app under "Use as remote" settings, you could simply push "add client", urge user to play a song from the client that should be managed, identify the clients the mac adress and then pair the devices.
