Remote control.

Hello,

It could be great to be able to remote control my computer Spotify app from the Spotify mobile device app. (iPhone un my case)

Now that Connect has officially been announced and started rolling out, I'll mark this as implemented.

Really would be great to have a direct control over it.

Android market has loads of apps which let you control it but you need to install extra software on the computer in question.

The hardest part seems to be already done since a desktop and mobile device on the same network are already capable of discovery and interacting with each other (just not in the way we want!) 🙂

OR skipping the local network (and pushing the commands via the Spotify server) would have the advantage of eliminating any possible discovery issues, as well as allowing control of a device on a different network. Also shouldn't be difficult, since the server can already stop playback when two devices are active.

It  would certainly be cool to just open the mobile app and see what's playing elsewhere in  the same interface, with a button to "take it with you" (terminating the desktop playback and switching to the same track and position on the app). This is a mockup of a what I mean for Android version (with a "Play here" in lower menu)

This would be a great feature, especially if combined with airplay functionality: send the music from your desktop spotify to an airplay enabled speaker.

I know other remote apps exist, and in combination with airfoil, you can achieve actually that.... but this setup often fails, causing me to run back to me computer to see what is wrong again....

A feature like this should really work like apple's remote app: Start the Spotify remote app, this wakes up your computer if needed, play a song and select which airplay speakers you want to listen to ! Awesome !

Enable any Spotify Application to play output remotely on any other Spotify Application

[on the same network, with the same logged-in user]

Thus an obsolete smart-phone could be plugged into the stereo system and controlled from either another smart-phone, tablet or computer.

Potentially saving lots of energy, money and moreover C02 emissions, when compared to using a laptop or desktop computer as the 'server'.

Would you say a "Remote" covers your idea? We could roll your idea into this post if you agree!

Yes - indeed, thanks - with emphasis on remote controlling the app running on the iphone/ android/ smartphone, rather than the other way around (As a few of the posts also suggest)

Wouldn't DIAL (http://www.dial-multiscreen.org/) be the thing for Spotify? Both Netflix and Youtube support it, so Spotify should follow along! That would do the trick for me.

I came all the way to the community boards to ask for this, and here it is!

PLEASE add a remote feature. It would be so boss
