This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

insane that EVERY TIME I open my Spotify I am met with "Your Shows" featuring podcasts I dont subscribe to or follow but maybe listened to one episode.  Would love to be able to not only remove podcasts from showing but be able to move this section to the bottom of my home screen and have music listed first.

 

Seems such a basic feature - why make it "not now"

So you can say you're not interested in podcasts and 'delete' them with a long press and selecting 'Not interested...'

 

I've removed about 50 podcasts and they keep coming back either as episodes or on another rail, plus they have put a bug in the app to ensure that it crashes after every third 'delete'. Pathetic.

Yeah I just gave up. Went with Tidal HiFi Plus (the one with Master quality bitrates) and I love it. **bleep** Spotify.

It's an important feature to be able to clear unsuitable content from the home screen especially on family accounts. It would be a responsible step for Spotify to take in order to make the platform more family friendly. It needs to happen.

Adding myself to the growing list of people frustrated with the endless podcast recommendations popping up before music. If someone doesn't subscribe to a single podcast, why are you placing that content first on your home screen? This is not just ignoring your audience, it is also providing a bad user experience and interface to your product.

I would like a customizable home screen. I dont want to be offered irrelevant choices ever. I will NEVER listen to Joe Rogan or any other podcast, this is my music app for ten years. I don’t listen to christian or country so give it ip already.  Also, stop autoplaying in my car, it is dangerous and startling to have music start playing when i am not expecting it.

So now we can hide things we don't like for either 90 days, until we swap devices, or until an app restart.

So generous, wow. So useful.

I need the option to remove certain tabs like "shows to try"or "stay up to date". The whole point of spotify is finding music that you like. I don't want to be spammed with the newest Trap or Pop or whatever. It is off-putting.

2017 is when the original post was posted so I don’t have much hope in all of this but here goes nothing. Spotify there’s over 9,000 votes on this idea response Spotify gave back in 2020. As a paying customer I want that premium experience which means giving me the choice in how I want my Spotify Home Screen to look. Premium to me means giving the customer more freedom in choice. As anyone knows everyone is uniquely different. Let us express that for our eyes only. Help us help you REALLY stand out from your competitors. And PLEASE make the shuffle mode algorithm not repeat any songs or play the same artist until the entire playlist is done. That’s an entirely separate request I’ve been asking for awhile.

Time to bring this idea back to light. It'd be so helpful to be able to manipulate my home screen on my IOS and desktop version. I'd LOVE to be able to REMOVE the podcast recommendations completely. Or at least reposition on the bottom of the screen. It's incredibly frustrating that it consumes so much screen real estate for functionality that I'm have very limited interest in using. If not full customization then the ability to tweak the recommendation "engine" to included/exclude specific content. Such as removing children's music recommendations since I sometimes play that for my child. Included can be omitting podcast recommendations, too. That can work in reverse where people can opt into recommendations/content, too.
