[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Why isn't this an option yet? I've listened to music, podcasts, etc that now always pop up on my home screen. Some of it is embarrassing and not something I want to broadcast you the world. Some of it was so bad, I don't want to listen to it again. I had Spotify connected to my TV but had to delete it so my whole household doesn't know what I've listened to. I feel like I have to hide my Spotify now.

Spotify's irritating design choices are getting to me now. I might start exploring competitors. It will be annoying to rebuild my list of 'liked' artists, but once done I will have little incentive to move back. I am getting a 100 million song catalogue from my Amazon Prime subscription. YouTube Premium offers all the music and more with video content, ads removed. So if that's what Spotify wants to achieve by ignoring its customers then I might soon be one less person for them to ignore!

Spotify is ignoring paying customers to support It's paid options for artists to force their way onto people's home pages. Double dipping at it's finest. Will be looking at competitors and recommend others do the same.

I'm currently testing Tidal for the music quality, but TIDAL's home screen isn't better. It's full of recommendations that have nothing to do with my music taste, and it's mostly rap music. I never listen to rap music (it's the music I dislike the most). I live in Germany, but neither do I listen to German music. What is the saddest is, that it is very forcefully recommends a German Rap playlist. Now that is that I would actually pay for so that I don't have to liste that. So looking back at Spotify, maybe it's not that bad at all 🙂 I'm kidding, Spotify is also bad. I want full control over my home screen. Let me even pin albums there.

The inability to customize the home screen, especially the list of playlists on the top of the app, is incredibly annoying.  Why can we not have a simple option to remove a playlist from that list?

Yes such a great idea!!!

It's needed for podcast you no longer wanna see on the episode for you part and we could leave a creative and personnal home screen with add of colors other than black

I basically don't listen to podcasts and I've clicked "not interested" several times on quite a few podcasts, but I keep getting these exact ones suggested on my home page...Spotify, what's going wrong with you guys?

Actually, I don't care by now, since I already cancelled my Premium account and opted for Apple Music. But also the "Discover Weekly" playlist, which I still used from time to time, has also become worse and worse.

So today I finally decided to delete Spotify completely from my phone.

I understand that music is expensive and that the subscription model can't cover all expenses so you have to force feed us what your advertisers want us to see. How much would it cost to have the freedom to say we don't like something and therefore do not want to see it in our paid subscription or hear it in our autoplay? How much does that freedom cost?

MrBue

One € or $ more. With the other providers like Apple Music, Deezer, etc.

This would be great.  I have seen "All about Kendrick" for months and wish I could make it go away 😞
