[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

I do not care for ‘under 15 minute listens’ or ‘editors picks’ - please let us customise this so we can see what we want to listen to quicker, not suggested pop **bleep** that you may get paid to promote

There is clearly enough interest around this as people are actively seeking out answers. I wonder if we can get some exposure on either macrumors or engadget.com. Even a mention of this idiotic feature would cause a backlash and I think their announcement that so many are using podcasts is false since it's one of those things that you accidentally click on.

Just opened Spotify only to be greeted with the same ad on my home screen TWICE now, and I still cannot get rid of them! Please stop making them take up slots in my 'recently played' tab, please! I wouldn't ever willingly listen to Drake of all people. I feel a bit insulted, even.

If listener satisfaction is your priority, then why all of this?

I don't want ads. I'd assume paying for Spotify would take away the intrusive ones, and I count these among them. I would really like these silly recommendations to become something people can dismiss if they're not interested, and giving us the ability to customize the home page would really help in that regard.

ETA: who on EARTH is "Tyga"!? Never heard of this dude but he seems have to have made his home next to drake, and I can't get rid of him! Stop ruining my shortcuts or let me edit them, please!

Web chat with Spotify. Have them delete and re-install your account saving your playlists etc. Then renew your account and the home screen is reset. This seems to be the only option. We need to all do this on a regular basis and then Spotify will have to take it seriously.

aloshka

@Spotspotpotspo, does requesting account to be reset get rid of all the podcast trash?

Spotspotspotspo

My problem was with my children playing their kids songs. The Spotify algorithm then decided my home page should be the kids music and not my own. The only way to fix it is to delete your account using web chat with Spotify and re installing it. Keeping my playlists was fine.

I hadn’t heard about the web chat approach so I’ll certainly give that a shot. Still seems pretty drastic though

I mean sometimes they do recommend some good stuff and I love Spotify for that, like the related artist tab is one of the best things about Spotify IMO.

still, having a way to select which lists you want to see on the home screen, and being able to dive into recommended/curated lists via a view more or curated tab might equate to a better user experience.

Every time I go to my homepage, the podcast "CumTown"  is suggested for me under the comedy section. I have absolutely no interest in checking it out, so it's just kind of disgusting to see every time, because of the font that is used; yet there is no possible way to remove it and I have to see it over and over again. Please help!

This may be a coincidence, but I changed my privacy settings and some of the cr@p went away on my PC.

Try it and report back:

In the PC desktop app, top right, Settings > (scroll down) Show Advanced Settings > (scroll all the way down) Privacy > turn on "Block all cookies for this installation of the Spotify desktop app".

There is a message about it "negatively impacting your Spotify experience" but really, it seems to be negatively impacting their ability to target you with ads on your homepage.

Hey Spotify, if you're reading, I still hate you for this.  I hate podcasts, and you're only ramming them down our throats because you can still advertise to Premium users within them.  I pay for a family plan, and I can very easily stop paying...

neanda
haha, don't be hating them though, they're just trying to justify their
over spend on exclusive podcasts, and I believe they nabbed prince harry
and his bird,

I hate podcasts too, they're just talk radio, or youtube in a background
tab, i never liked them during the first generation
