[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Haven’t switched yet but Tidal looking like a better option. No podcasts, therefore no politics. Just music and videos 👍

Look, guys. I know you have a massive deal with Joe Rogan and that's why you're pushing his podcast on everyone. But:

  1. Surely you can see how pushing conservative podcasts alongside Pride-themed playlists makes you look like massive hypocrites
  2. If we're going to be given recommendations, surely it's in our interest and yours for us to be able to give feedback on those recommendations so you can improve your app
  3. Anti-vax content like he puts out has literally cost people their lives. You are now indirectly profiting off of people's deaths. That's gross.

Really disappointing. The homepage is so bloated with stuff that is all about you and not what I want. Starting to put me off seeing all this rubbish everyday and legitimately having to search for the stuff I want.

It's amusing that Spotify could probably have avoided their stock plummeting if they'd implemented this, and several of the other requests around customisation and the ability to block podcast recommendations. Free speech is one thing (excuse) but continually subjecting paying users to content that either offends or upsets them is quite another.

Joe Rogan's anti vax stance is something that you should be able to block. But if we had control over the home page and recommendations, seeing his smug face once then banishing it, wouldn't be such a personal affront. However today India Arie has pulled her music because of the way he verbalises his thoughts on race. By the way as a resident of the UK, I haven't seen or heard anything he's said so I'm just surmising from the short statement she's made, so apologies if that's incorrect.

Now surely, this isn't going to receive the same sweeping under carpet from Spotify? Content on race that causes offence shouldn't be on the platform at all, it's not just a matter of opinion. Or even just the deliberate denial of scientific fact as per anti vax...

Hi, I didn’t meant to take over the conversation. I thought I was just just
posting my thoughts on the Joe Rogan conversation. My apologies. I’ll
delete it.

I don't really know how I feel about this, come to think of it... There are many aspects of it when you dig a bit deeper. Joe Rogan has had thousands of people on his show, some of them are bound to offend someone. That's not the issue here, the issue is if there is something we don't like we should be able to remove it from Spotfy's suggestions. But -  in a way removing content we would not normally engage with stops us of from widening our minds, music wise or discussion wise - but then again there are some genres of music or discussions I know I don't want to listen to. I can choose not to click on them, but in this day and age we actually need to create a bit of a safe cosy bubble for us to be able to handle the world. Everyone's bubble is different, but music has a big part, and to some, podcasts do too. It is annoying when we have our bubble poked, and Spotify pokes our bubble on each startup. I don't personally mind Joe Rogan, he has had many interesting guests that I have enjoyed - but I certainly know I will never listen to Finnish hip-hop... 😛

I hate Joe Rogan so why do I need to see this in wall? At least leave us the option : "don't recommend this"

ExtraGeth

Yeah i guess i will drop spotify premium as well since i cannot kick off podcast recomendation.

Let's get this thread back on track. Whatever your tastes or political leanings the Spotify home page is 95% **bleep** you're not interested in. Mine is utter garbage. Despite using "don't play this" Spotify refuses to get the hint. Seriously, give us control of our own experience. Please.
