[All Platforms][Other] Allow multiple profiles on the same device so our music preferences don't mix

For those of us with small children, we have to play their music and our music from a single Spotify account since they're not yet old enough to have their own devices. This results in recommended playlists with both their music and our music, which is unusable. I did try Spotify Kids, and it’s so different from the normal Spotify app it was unusable to me - I don’t have bandwidth or patience to mess with the Kids app.

Provide a way for us to switch between profiles within a single account or easily toggle between accounts on the same device.

I'm happy to pay for Spotify Duo or the Family plan if I could easily navigate between accounts from the same device without having to log out and back in again.

Hello and thanks for bringing your feedback to the Idea Exchange. We've marked this as a new idea.
Spotify Staff will look into this idea once it reaches the necessary amount of votes.

Just for your information, as a workaround, you can have access to Spotify Kids if you have a Premium for Family subscription plan. You can get more information about it here.

This would make Spotify perfect!

I bought a Spotify Duo plan just to be able to have two accounts so I can separate my tastes.

I know that may make me weird, but I like a really unique type of music that I'd like to keep separated from other songs. The reason for that is because Spotify has a genius algorithm that makes automated playlists that suggest similar songs for you based on your listening history and likes. And by liking and listening songs that don't pertain to my favorite style, Spotify will end up recommending a bunch of songs that don't appeal to me.

So I made a separate account and bought a dual plan as it's only three dollars more for the simple feature. The unfortunate part is now I can't scrobble my last.fm and more importantly, I have to log out and re-login to my other account everytime I want to make a switch.

If Spotify either did what Gmail does which allows you to stay logged into multiple accounts at once, but switch between them when needed, or allow you to make different profiles for a single account somehow, that would be perfect.

This is such an obvious feature need that it is maddening it hasn't been implemented automatically. People paying for multiple accounts on a family plan are likely to have times when family iPad is used for a younger kid, or a teen, or an adult, or may want to play kids story podcasts on their own phone on a long drive. Not being able to easily toggle between profiles means the recommendations and recently played items are a mess when this happens. Netflix, for example, lets you open the home screen and select a profile because it assumes multiple family members will share the same TV. Other apps let you click a drop-down on your profile icon to select another profile. We should only have to log in once and then should be able to return.

This is standard functionality for every streaming platform. Instead of closing really useful suggestions, and auto closing similar suggestions, how about asking all Spotify family users, assume you have a DB of who those are, and surveying whether simple profile switching is a desired feature?

I love how if you search these forums, there are numerous threads making the same request, which seems so obviously important and relevant to the user experience for anyone on a family plan, and yet Spotify keeps closing them and not taking action.

So this idea has already been implemented on android

so why not on ios and desktop app

Please make this work

It seems rather unprofessional for this thread to get re-pinged and while not being easy to find, when I finally found it 2 years later, it's closed with no technical info.  There is no information that I can find on your website that confirms that my wife can use our sonos/google/tesla/nvidia shield/Samsung/LG/Apple etc devices without stopping playback for myself or my wife.
Please document this, describe how it works, and how to test it when it seems like it doesn't.
It seems silly for your servers to disconnect a single audio stream when 2 should be permitted because a different device started playing.  Often, music is playing on Sonos or Google device, I climb into my car or go rollerblading with my phone and the audio stops in my house.  This is dumb.  I've been paying for 2 years for a Duo account, and can't ever play 2 streams at the same time.
