[All Platforms] Remember Position in Playlist / Album

Please remember the current song playing in a playlist so if I switch away to a different playlist and then switch back, Spotify will know where I left off.

I often can't finish a playlist right away or my mood changes so I might switch to a different playlist. Later, I want to finish the previous playlist, not start over again.

Hey everyone,

This idea accidentally ended up in the wrong board, so we're moving it back here.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

So users have many playlist that they may want to listen to at different times throughout the day but when they want to go back to a previous playlist they now have to remember which song they last listened to because Spotify doesn't give the option to resume where they last left off. So my idea is when a logged in user clicks the play button on a playlist similar to other streaming platforms, it will ask the user if they want to start listening to the playlist from the beginning or do they want to start from where they last left off.

I have thought this about albums too–I might switch to an audiobook but when I'm ready for more music, I'd like to pick up right where I left off.

As a Spotify User, when I return to listening to a playlist that I was previously listening to, I want the ability to resume playing from where I left, so that I can avoid relistening to music I already heard.

See my full write-up, complete with User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for Spotify's engineering team to pick-up.

  1. Title pretty much pretty much explains it. Im talking about an optional setting which can be flicked on/off per selected playlist which basically prevents the queue from being reset when listening on shuffle. So that when you go back in between playlists you just continue where you left off and still get to that 100% song completion at the end. No more skipping and scrolling songs that seem to be on repeat to get to those seemingly hidden ones. Especially with BIG playlists some songs seem to elude the shuffle because everytime the queue resets.
  2. When selecting a playlist from my library a simple prompt saying: 'continue where you left off?' or 'resume previous session?'. This notification should be able to be turned off.

Save your progress when listening to a new album so it is easy to come back to later (if you take a break and listen to something else in-between)

I'm starting ot think that spotify is **bleep**ed.

In iOS, for the past 5 years you can't scroll to the song-position within the playlist and neither resume a playlist.

Manually contacting the support does not help neither. Also other friends already asked me about this. But not everybody will start posting online.

Should we really change to the competition?

If the competition is better, then yes we should switch.

Hi there!

I often feel the need for a locator button for the current playing episode within a playlist.

Whether it is a podcast or a personal playlist i can't directly locate the episode i am playing. I have to scroll through all the playlist to locate the ongoing episode.

A quick button that would jump to the current episode within the playlist would be useful.

Thank you!

This would solve it. Spotify engineer just needs to pick this feature up
