[Amazon Echo] Stop auto shuffling Songs when you request an Artist via Alexa

You changed the setting so that Alexa auto shuffles songs by artist when you use your voice to start spotify.  For some reason, I have to request this as a new idea for you to reverse the setting.   You already can tell alexa to shuffle when you request an artist.  Why would it auto shuffle and force you to interrupt the music you just started to play?

Why do we as customers have to lobby to get a known issue fixed?  This is not a "New Idea", but we are forced to pretend that it would be an enhancement to the current service.  Any answers or input from someone from Spotify?  I think I read somewhere that they don't even look at an idea unless it gets 500 likes.   Again, this is not a new idea.  This worked correctly in the past.

Please make this change with playlists as well. Requesting to shuffle is easy...no reason to always shuffle. Many people build playlists to be played in order.

This autoshuffle gave me a good "idea": to change to a different music streaming service!

I totally agree - this change is absolutely awful and it shours be switched back to the previous way as soon as possible.  @__spo__ - are you listening to this?

Agree with all the people above. This feature isn’t needed and wasn’t requested. Why does it take so long to reverse this.

Time to leave Spotify after many years and move to Amazon music!

But that's just what they want you to do. I think the problem here is with
Amazon, not with Spotify. By making the Spotify service less usable on Echo
devices, they hope to push people towards their own music service

Amazon doesn’t decide how Spotify’s software works. This is 100% an issue with Spotify.

Even if it is due to a change with how Amazon calls the API, it’s down to Spotify to adapt.

But as there are multiple API calls possible to Spotify, I feel that Amazon
is deliberately using the non-optimal one that shuffles? e.g. (from Spotify
API documentation:

PUT /v1/me/player/shuffle Toggle Shuffle For User’s Playback

Then Spotify can communicate that to us. And put in a workaround.

But it I don’t believe that’s true anyhow.

And either way, ours is not to speculate how or why something is broken on Spotify’s behalf or apologise for them like they’re our little brother, we are paying customers and we are here to point out something is broken, the functionality is causing us to use their service less and we expect them to fix it.

I don’t know about you, but I have used Spotify a lot less with Alexa ever since this issue arose.

Actuall, when I request an artist the exact same songs play in the same order each time the request is made on both Amazon Echo and Google Home devices.

It would be great if the songs played of an artist are varied if the collection supports it. On playlists, I agree, the order should be the order designated.

Perhaps on playlists you can set up a few sorts, or randomization options.
