[Android] Remove the Shuffle / Play Button

Hi, I tried out your new design, which I have mixed feelings about, but nevermind that. The most annoying thing I come over in the new Spotify (for iPhone by the way) is the dumb, big, overlapping, unnecessary shuffle play button that pops up everywhere. Is this a bug or is this on purpose? Could at least had add an option for it. Also, it doesn't look streamlined at all with the current design. Did it even occur that not everyone wants a shuffle play button?

Updated on 2020-11-04

Hey folks,
As some of you will have noticed, this has changed on iOS.
We've updated the idea, so that we can update everyone more accurately with regards to Android.
We're marking this as a 'Good idea', too.
Please know that your feedback is reaching the right teams here.

We'll post an update if anything changes!
Thanks

After emailing Spotify support I learned that if you just click on a song
in the list, the next song played is next in the list. But making Shuffle
the only button, like they have, makes "click anywhere in the list"
unintuitive.

Shuffle sucks, the UI design around it is awful.  Please give us an option to hide / disable it.  Once enabled, it's a pain in the **bleep** to disable.

Exactly we r paying we want no shuffle

How about split the button in half and make the left half regular play, and the right half shuffle play. Problem solved, cater to everyone.

I think the whole spotify interface is counter intuitive. It's the main reason I keep unsubscribing from premium. I can put up with it for free, but not if I'm paying for it.

The shuffle play button is the worst thing about spotify. It seriously makes me consider switching to Apple Music. It shows a disregard and disrespect to the artist's intention for their albums.

Please, defaut to let the album play through, and hide shuffle where it belongs.

Well it seems like Spotify is selling 'Shuffle play' as some awesome feature you get if you sign up for their service. Check https://www.spotify.com/us/premium

So I do not think we will get a regular play button soon.

Come on already!

I started using Spotify in 2007 as a premium user and was a happy user and ambassador for many years. When the shuffle button first appeared, I canceled my subscription. I had it up to here with all the "features" and cluttered interface that had been building up, slowly but steadily.

Now, I re-opened my account, because if I am to use Spotify at all, I want to be able to at least choose between normal/my playmode, and the super-annoying shuffle mode, which a lot of people really seem to hate. It's not like you have to read between the lines here.

But, to my great disappointment, this is regarded as "not right now" by... some people at Spotify. I don't know if it's your developers, marketers, business strategists, or whoever.

Please just realize that what we pay for is to listen to any music, any time, exactly the way we want to listen to it. Either playing from top down, or zipping between tracks when we feel like it.

Don't shove this "feature" down our throats.

I will cancel my subscription again unless you take this request from many loyal users more seriously. Just make it the other way round - people can select shuffle as the "other" option, or you can have a Play button and a Shuffle button so that your paying customers get the freedom to enjoy the music they want to.

In fact, I will cancel my subscription again, right now, after 2 hours of using Spotify again. Just logging out of the app on my android is so incredibly difficult, it hurts.

So, good-bye again. Maybe I'll check in again in a couple of years time. In the meantime, you might want to listen a bit more to customers who take their time to let you know what they do or don't appreciate about your software.

So long.

This represents what most people here say, and should be sendt directly to Spotify marketing department. I don't believe they read anything here.

Just the option to change it to 'PLAY' via the settings would be great.
