[Android] Remove the Shuffle / Play Button

Hi, I tried out your new design, which I have mixed feelings about, but nevermind that. The most annoying thing I come over in the new Spotify (for iPhone by the way) is the dumb, big, overlapping, unnecessary shuffle play button that pops up everywhere. Is this a bug or is this on purpose? Could at least had add an option for it. Also, it doesn't look streamlined at all with the current design. Did it even occur that not everyone wants a shuffle play button?

Updated on 2020-11-04

Hey folks,
As some of you will have noticed, this has changed on iOS.
We've updated the idea, so that we can update everyone more accurately with regards to Android.
We're marking this as a 'Good idea', too.
Please know that your feedback is reaching the right teams here.

We'll post an update if anything changes!
Thanks

I listen to a lot of classical music.  The sequence of tracks to be played is important.  Shuffle play is certainly not something one wants when listening to a symphony or concerto.

Well, I tried. As a long time Rhapsody customer, I came to Spotify and was pretty impressed at first. Then the newness wears off and you realize the app is great if you want Spotify to do everything for you and have no preferences or care much about new music discovery (which is painful at Spotify).

The Shuffle Play was my first indicator that things just aren't quite right at Camp Spotify and as I've tried to use the app for more advanced things, like new music discovery, I realized it's really very clunky and not well thought out. I'm CONSTANTLY having to fiddle with the player. Want that new album by that band that is CURRENTLY PLAYING? Oh, you can get to it, but good luck finding it easily.

Seriously, I have a list of complaints, but when I can't push THE BIG GREEN BUTTON and get the music to play as I have arranged it OR get Spotify customer service to respond, then they don't need my money. So I will say, though Rhapsody is far from perfect and their app looks ancient, I have FAAAAR more control over how I want my music to play AND new music discovery is just killer!  I don't pay for millions of songs so you can keep playing the same 100 of them for me in different arrangements (and I listen to dozens of genres).

EDIT: Update on Rhapsody, so it's back to being called Napster and I love it. There is a shuffle play button, but it's not big and it's not default. As a former very long time Rhapsody user, I really love the new app, the old app is why I left. So many things that work EXACTLY as you expect them to and so many more features (super easy access to an EQ from anywhere anyone? "it's awesome!"). Also, Napster has a larger song library and way way better music discovery options. First month is free, give it a shot!

Hello Spotify,

Please read this thread properly.

It all boils down to this: there are many of us who gladly will pay a premium
for good software - and especially a great music player. What we are paying
for, then, is instant access to whatever we want, exactly the way we want it.
We are paying for your "AI guys" to stay the **bleep** away with their algorithms
and other "cool features". We know what we want, and are happy to pay for it.

Doesn't that sound like a really good business idea?

I will pay double per month, for life, for a simple to use music player WITH
NO SHUFFLE, "SOCIAL LISTENING", ETCETERA.

Just get your junk out of the way and stick to the original proposition. Your
"cream on top" sucks.

The solution is dropping Spotify and going for Tidal. It's working for me.
Not only work, but also better sound with HiFi quality.

Please remove the shuffle button. Please!

The removal of the shuffle button should be TOP PRIORITY. It is the most stupid UI element ever!!

What amazes me after all this time is that nothing seems to have been down about it. I agree with some of the comments about the sheer size of the button, but is it JUST me that thinks, from a GIU end-user point-of-view, the logical thing would be to make the large button a toggle button. Spotify green is shuffle on, press it once and it turns grey (or whatever) and shuffle is off.

Just HOW hard can this be to implement ?

As a premium user I should be able to play my playlist in the order I have selected without having to select each track one by one. Leave shuffle where it is and let me play my music in the order I prefer at my leisure and if I feel like hitting shuffle then I can!

The shuffle button was the main reason i changed to deezer for a year. Now i'm back and try spotify again. i hope for a change. at least let the user decide what button he wants to see.

Yes, please massively reduce that ridiculous SHUFFLE button.  WAY TOO BIG....WHY?
