[iOS][Discover] Restore Touch Preview on iOS App

Touch preview removal on last iOS vers. update looks like it hasn't been a great idea. You are on time to restore it, one of the best Spotify features.

Updated on 2019-03-19

Hey!

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

This feature was originally removed from the app due to low engagement. There was a statement at the time which you can check out at https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Touch-Preview-on-iOS-removal/td-p/1857905.

We're keeping this idea as 'Not Right Now', as it's not something we have any immediate plans to add back onto the app.

If we do have any new info to share we'll check back in here with a new status.

Cheers!

Hey everyone,

We appreciate all your feedback on this.

We’re committed to offering the best experience on each platform, so we took the decision to remove this feature as it had a very low engagement rate.

For now, we'd like to keep this Idea open to collect even more thoughts about it.

Thanks!

Are you kidding me

I'm trying to figure out how this makes them more money by removing an insanely helpful feature. It would be hilarious getting the guys who decide s to remove this to explain the financials behind this decision. Who else agrees? Imagine a video of them trying to explain why it got removed.

I just have to ask.. does it  benefit Spotify somehow maybe moneywise to take this feature and not give it back? There must be something in it for you? And I agree with one of the other ppl that replied, I have 6 ppl in my family that  use Spotify all day long and only two of us knew of the touch feature!

Im so lost stuck with a bunch of songs that are getting old on my playlists!  I've always used the Discover option to find new music but now my one choice of song from each artist is just well, to put it bluntly **bleep** and such a disappointment! How am my supposed to know if I like a new artist when I only get one song choice?!

Anyway, if there is no  substantial benefit to you Spotify, please just give it back because it means a lot to obviously many of us, at least the lucky ones who knew about this feature

Removing Touch Preview pretty much defeats the purpose of the Discover funtionality for me.  Now I have to choose Shuffle Play just to listen to a few songs and see if I want to continue.  If I don't like what I hear, hasn't the fact that I've now listened to several songs influenced future suggestions?  Which in turn requires me to listen to them only to find out I don't like it and then have even weaker future suggestions.

If you're 'dedicated to the offering the best experience on each platform' why have you removed a (great, although widelyunknown) feature and not even replaced it from something?? You're literally deducting from the experience. And you won't even listen to us.

@Jack YES right now!  We will NOT wait years for you to bring this feature back, because you WILL bring it back!  I promise you that.

What's all this talk about money?

-_-

This is was my favorite feature..... your decision has made spotify less enjoyable

So 1000+ votes and 20 pages+ of discussion are not enough thoughts?

This is simple:

Lack of engagement = lack of awareness = improve awareness

Removing this feature leads users to speculate that you have an ulterior motive Spotify. One can speculate that previewing tracks creates an extra load on your servers. This is an added cost you were seeking to remove so you dressed it up as "lack of engagement" bull****.

Don't get complacent Spotify rivals will sniff this out and lure users away. Nobody is too big to fail.
