[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Please upvote this idea to garner attention for it.  Thank you Spotify and the Spotify community.  Let's get this implemented so it's ready for general iOS 14 release this September!

How is this not supported yet? Has there even been any update by spotify? It seems they are doing all they can to lose a whole ecosystem of listeners.

No worries... they have podcasts!  Spent a bunch of money to nab some
big names to promote something many of us weren't asking for.  Now your
interface is cluttered with pushing podcasts even if you just want
music.  Spotify has made it clear, they do not care what you want or
enjoy.  You must consume the podcasts.  I bet they get some kind of cut
on the ads rather than having to pay fractions of pennies to artists who
create music.

They've completely lost their way, hope many of you wake up to this and
vote with your dollars.

Spotify has become a disgrace.

Man if I hadn't already canceled my Spotify subscription due to this issue I would cancel again after reading Spotify is hosting podcasts denying climate change. I mean climate change denial! How dense do you have to be

@kenron

What podcast? So we can let others know that Spotify is hosting harmful content.

If felt so good to cancel my premium family account.  They even allow you to specify why you cancelled (chose Apple Music) and a comment box you can write all you want.  I laid it all out for them to not read because you know, #SpotifyCares

Lets see:

Lack of a decent Apple Watch App

Lack of Lossless (free from Apple)

Lack of "Spatial" or Multichannel (free from Apple)

Lack of Airplay2 support/multi room (Sorry, SpotifConnect just doesn't cut it)

Lack of a NATIVE homepod app.

Forcing users to pay attention to their innovative Podcast **bleep**.  Thanks for littering our apps with that.

Forcing users who accidentally click on a podcast to not be able to remove yourself from that podcasts updates

Pulling more music from your service to create PR to pay attention to their big gamble on Podcasts

Not paying music artists more for streams..

I could go on and on...

Do yourself a favor if you're an Apple user, use Apple Music, it just works and sounds soooo much better.

Vote with your $ eventually enough of the losses may tip them off.

Good by and good luck to you all.  I gave them way too much time to make things happen in their apps and service and they continue to not listen to their customers and load up the app/service with much unwanted bloat.

PS Buy a month of songshift (I think it's $5) and transfer your playlists with ease!

Oh, I forgot and it was mentioned here prior... buy a month of songshift (I think it's $5) and transfer away your spotify playlists!  Well worth it.

I’ve been somehow keeping my hopes up for the native homepod support to arrive at some point but siding with misinformation instead of music was too much. I was a Spotify subscriber for as long as I can remember, probably around 15 years.

I used Playlisty to move my playlists over to Apple music. A good way to get recommendation algorithms going is to save your Spotify’s “Your Top Songs xxxx” playlists, migrate them to Apple music and “heart” them there.

That is a jolly good summary of the whole sad affair.

That's it! Spotify doesn't care about music, only podcasts. We have been asking for integration with HomePod and AirPlay 2 for two years, in fact, Spotify itself criticized Apple when it launched HomePod for the lack of API for third parties. And now that it exists they just don't. Now we have another scandal involving vaccine misinformation. Join the #SpotifyDeleted movement and cancel your premium subscription until the company speaks up.
