[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

wow didn't really read much into the #SpotifyDeleted trend until now, and I imagine Spotify will have to do some desperate moves to get their value back up – maybe something bold, like supporting the HomePods 😅

According to Forbes, Spotify value dropped 25% in January of 2022, compared to 45% drop throughout 2021 🤭

I have ended my Spotify Premium last year because of this issue. I was having second thoughts and wanted to go premium again today. Jumped back to this thread and reminded myself why I discontinued Premium in the first place.

Please offer Native support on HomePod. The next time I say 'Hey Siri, play ***' on my Homepod, it should play from my favorite playlists in Spotify.

Cheers!

I've also loved spotify for years, but after switching to homepods, not having native support just kinda kills it for me. Another move to apple music.

If you value music, it's time to switch away.  The President/CEO of
Spotify made it clear last week they're pushing hard for podcasts...
good luck with that.

I have taken up Apple Music. Working on the family to do the same.
Functionality alone is a game changer. But I do have a decent hifi too so
quality even more noticeable.
Hugely disappointed in this firm. Demanding access to Apple was a strong
hint that buying HomePods would be supported. Then they didn’t.

There are several reasons why I don’t want to switch to Apple Music, and I like how Spotify gets regular feature updates.

This feature is a deal-breaker for some people, so let’s hope it comes soon as it’s very useful to have. 🙂

LOL to "regular feature updates" on Spotify, unless you're HEAVILY into
podcasts?

I bet this will improve the service:

But they can't pay artists more royalities?  If you care about music and not podcasts or corporate sponsorships... vote with your wallet and cancel spotify.  I did and boy does it feel good.

Leave it to Spotify to sue Apple for anti competitor behaviour as soon as the HomePod released without third party support, but then not implement said support like two years after they won and it was made possible by Apple 🤪
