[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Cancelled my Spotify after waiting for this feature for so long and switched to Apple Music. Admittedly, I like Spotify more but after getting HomePod and not being able to use it easily with Spotify, I had to make this choice. HomePod is great and gives me a lot of joy. So sad that Spotify’s team couldn’t implement the integration with that wonderful device for such a long time.

They are not hurting Apple. They are helping Apple. And hurting us. Beggars
belief. And I am sure there is someone who has followed the fees to artists
issue better than me who can correct me if I have misunderstood, but they
are not so far as I have grasped looking good on the fees to artists front.

Please update the status of this idea! Many people are VERY invested in its outcome!

Oh look... more stuff we're not asking for.  It's a good sign they're working on the app though?

I have been a customer now for nearly 10 years and also waiting for this support since July 20.

my personal deadline is july. Then all my friends and their families will cancel everything. Who needs 30 customers. Peanuts for Spotify I guess

Sort the ideas by number of votes... Ideas with significantly fewer votes have at least had their "status" changed to show that Spotify acknowledges the request. For a second I thought maybe this idea wasn't old enough and that's why it's still considered "new", but I found ideas with just over 1,000 votes and posted after this where Spotify has changed their status. This feels like pretty clear evidence that Spotify is intentionally ignoring this request... The least they could do is mark it as "Not Right Now" if that's how they feel.

Side note, I scrolled passed some other ideas that had to do with utilizing features Apple has made available and Spotify hadn't changed status there either. It's almost like they are trying to make Apple look bad... 😉

Hi, I know I am late to this party but I am a little confused. If you read all the way through the following Apple Support link you will discover that HomePod can be instructed to change its default music app to a "supported" music app. Further down the same link you will see that Apple specifically names Spotify "(Spotify, for example)" as a supported music app.

https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/homepod/apd414437fc9/homepod

Mind you, if you follow these carefully written instructions you will eventually get to:-

2.  In the music service app go to settings, then add the music service to your HomePod.

....which unfortunately doesn't appear in the Spotify settings.

Confused.

Basically, and happy to be corrected, but Spotify complained about Apple
not allowing access. Apple then allowed access. Spotify now won't do it. We
don't know why they judge that doing it is to their advantage.

I think we'll have to wait for some WWDC (this year hopefully!) for Apple to announce "3rd party" apps on the HomePod I guess.

"Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod. "

The first sentence of this idea.
