[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I have been in love with Spotify sins forever, i remember when my dad came home with the spotify beta key (my family was the first ones I know of that had spotify) I have pored so many hours of my life into Spotify and it’s songs, but unfortunately this might come to an end if you (spotify) doesn’t make spotify work natively on HomePod before my 3 free months on Apple Music is over. I feel like Spotify could be one of those company’s that dident believe in cd:s when they first came and by the time they realized that cd:s was the new thing most other company’s had passed them and they never recovered. I think that the most important thing for any tech company is to be in front of innovation and right now Spotify, ur dead last. And for a loyal costumer I think that is sad.

Any update on this Spotify?

Hey Spotify, any reaction?

Hi, please let us have an update 🙂 I bought my husband a HomePod mini for Christmas. Will he be able to use Siri and Apple‘s Home app?

Make us happy, please! We have just switched over from Deezer this month in favour of Spotify Duo…and Deezer‘s app works fine with the HomePod…

Indeed, the Season of Goodwill. Any Goodwill on the horizon from Mr Ek?

@tryingtothink I didn't want to let you down, but apparently this feature is in conflict with Spotify Connect and so it won't be released anytime soon.

Thanks for telling us. Hopefully someone clever will sort it in the end.
Fingers crossed.

But Spotify approved and confirmed the idea - so they must stick by their word. 🙂

Plus they can’t risk to loose many customers to Apple Music or Deezer.

It‘s quite vital to be fully compatible with the #1 cool brand that is Apple. Be cool for people willing to spend money for music (buy a HomePod, subscribe to Spotify Premium…).

Sorry, double posting

It's a TOTAL BS answer... does Spotify Connect allow you to connect to
multiple devices (ahem multi room audio) then control the volume of each
spotify connect device?  It doesn't and it's a half-**bleep** attempt by
Spotify.  Inferior tech and a pissing contest against Apple.  Spotify
will lose in the long run.  Short sighted dummies that run Spotify.
