[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I'm currently triying Apple Music for free during 2 months. Works absolutly fantastic with HomePod. I'm considering leaving Spotifiy if nothing move for HomePod native support.

I fear the timescale is sending out a message, as is the silence on the
matter from Spotify.. I also note an article in What HiFi about the
timescale for hi rez.which is many years. Apparently there are legal
issues. Spotify seems good at getting involved with legal issues.

There should be support added for the homepod. The only way to listen to spotify on the Homepod is through air play..  it would be nice to talk to siri and have spotify be the main source of music which you can do for other streaming apps just not spotify.

Pathetic is the right word for this. Spotify is like a total boomer company right now. I think they grew too big too fast. I even would say they can't keep up anymore with the competition. Almost thinking they will go down in the next few years. Hopefully Apple Music will buy their algorithms since that is the **ONLY** thing Spotify does better.

Me too, I'm trying to find out how to control my Spotify through my Sonos speakers using Apple Home / Homekit App

Got my Mini today, and it kinda worked for me.
I was talk to the pod, to play my fav playlist, and it did, from Spotify. Did not even think about it. After an hour or so, it just stopped working, and now it is telling me that Spotify does not do this, even tho it literally worked an hour ago... Not sure if an update broke it, or what was happening, but this is charade. I know for a fact that this can work, but something is just denying the service.

That's very interesting. Well observed. Has anyone techy got any insights
on this?

What I did find out is that you can play on your HomePod by using Siri on your phone. Say something like “Play my Discover Weekly on Spotify on my HomePod” and it will make your iPhone to play the music via Airplay. So it’s not playing natively on the HomePod, like everyone here is asking (me included). So you just can’t talk to your Homepod to play from Spotify, but you have to command your phone.

Could this explain what happened?
