App not working on Volvo and Polestar cars

We've gotten reports that some Volvo and Polestars car users are experiencing issues with the Spotify app after an update.

Some mention that Google Voice Assistant control for Spotify no longer works, or the app UI has changed and it is no longer recognized by the car as a safe app for use while driving.

Spotify app suddenly greyed out and only possible to use when car is in parking mode. Does not help to re-install app or reset infotainment system. Possible to open app in parking mode but you get the Desktop version, not the car UI.

I have the same problem, the tablet version was installed, not the car version, the functionality is terrible

I uninstalled it on all profiles and reinstalled it, it works fine in car mode, thank you

Hi!
I have the issue on my new EC40. It all worked fine with my preious Volvo.
But now I've been thrown out twice and I reinstalled it yesterday. Before I reinstalled, I was not offered to log in using a QR code. But after reinstalling, I could use the QR code. But this morning I was signed out again. Really bad...

In the meantime, we suggest giving the workaround mentioned by @FishyFishFish a try:

1. Uninstall the app from each car user profile.
2. Restart the car system.
3. Reinstall the app.

Ironically I haven't been logged out since shortly after reporting this, so
it looks like it may have been resolved at least with the Volvo Ex30. Same
the same can't be said for the actual volvo software.

Spotify app on Volvo XC40

As of a few days ago displayed "loading content"

I uninstalled app on volvo

Went to Spotify account on web and logged out everywhere. 
Reinstalled app on volvo

Logged in

BUT the Spotify app thinks the car is a tablet so is not using the car version.
