Equalizer won’t work with Airplay

I have iOS 13 updated on iPhone and ipad

spotify premium 

the equalizer 

Won’t work with Airplay 

does work with playback thru device or with Airpods

Thanks for reaching out to us. We understand that you're experiencing issues while trying to use Spotify via Airplay.

 

Unfortunately, the equalizer won't work with Airplay, as the Spotify app just tells the Airplay device which song to play from Spotify's catalog, with the Airplay device controlling how the audio will sound. Which is why, we can't control any equalizer settings on the Airplay device.

 

We'd recommend that you reach out to your Airplay device manufacturer customer support team to get help with adjusting the sound quality and equalizer settings.

As you can see from the replies after your post, this issue has still not been fixed.

It sort of partially works. Settings appear to be applied, but cannot be changed while streaming over AirPlay.

Are you sure that EQ settings really work when streaming? Because even if a set my EQ setting before streaming when I start airplay it's not working... Although it works like this on apple music... Have you tried you set all EQ settings manually to minimum and start streaming on airplay? Does it really change the sound?

Yes, setting the EQ settings to a mininum (i.e shitty sound) & switching to a Airplay destination will delivery a shitty sound.
Switching back to a non-Airplay stream destination, setting the EQ settings to a mininum for bass and proper settings for treeble (i.e a midly shitty sound) & then switching to a Airplay destination will delivery a midly shitty sound.
My Airplay device is an Airport Express.

So probably that's why we have different results with the same actions... I think it's a limitation from homepod. Do you know if your Airport Express uses Airplay 1 or 2 ?

AirPort Express (2nd gen) with latest firmware uses AirPlay 2. I know, because I have one.

Homepod also uses Airplay 2 ... I cant understand why this happens...

I disagree with the Frozen-EQ issue being resolved at all.
Been using the app just like that for over a year now.
Can’t take it anymore.

I use iOS 13.5.1 (iPhone XS Max)
Spotify version 8.5.60.881.

The EX got frozen up as soon as I switched to either AirPlay or Spotify connectivity to my Onkyo AVR TX-RZ720 through WiFi.

This has been the same since the older versions of IOS and Spotify app.
Someone please take the ownership and get this resolved.
And please don’t close this thread as this was never get resolved. Duh!
