Playback stops after playing few songs on Echo devices

We've received multiple reports where repeat stops working & playback pauses after a few songs on Amazon Echo devices.

Hey there folks,

We've checked with our teams and this should now be fixed for everyone 🙂

Make sure that your Echo device is up-to-update, should you still experience issues. You can do this by asking Alexa for an update with the voice command - "Alexa, check for updates".

If the above doesn't do the trick, and the issue persists, we recommend that you create a new thread on our Help Board, so we can look into it further.

Cheers!

When was the status update last posted? This has been a problem for about two weeks now. I personally have tried everything suggested and nothing works. I’m able to go one song and a half and then dead silence. Doesn’t matter if I do voice command or use my phone, all 3 of my echos stop working with Spotify. I can use a different music source, but then why am I paying for a Spotify subscription?!?! @Spotify how long is this going to take to fix? Will we be receiving a credit for the month? @Maria

Also having this issue. I haven't encountered this issue since I bought the device and just last two weeks or so. Any update on this?

Good Morning,

so chrisd and me was one of the first ppl who encountered the Problem, since Yesterday evening the Problem should be solved on my side.

What did i done? I asks Alexa yesterday if there is an update and she tells me yes after 10 Minutes the update was done and guess who is playing his sleepmusic the whole night?

So for everyone here just give at a try maybe the solution is right here.

Cheers

someone on my local forum put something about it nd said they contacted Amazon but they were and I exactly quote 'F*cking useless', bless them! So far I've been able to play a 2 hour playlist start through finish without interruption, whatever Spotify are doing, it's working 😭 I just assumed that Spotify hated Britain until I saw where you guys are from **bleep**🤭

I am having the same issue for about two weeks. Everything is updated the latest version. I’ve tried many of the troubleshooting steps that other people have listed. I listen to white noise on repeat all night. Impacting my sleep and I would really love for there to be an update. Thanks so much.

I don't know if there's been an update in the last 12 hours or so but trying this morning, I've not had any issues, for the first time in weeks.

Status changed to: Fixed

Hey folks,

Good news - We've worked together with Amazon to resolve the playback issues on Echo devices, and a fix for this is gradually being rolled out! While we can't give an exact timeframe for each individual case, you should all notice a difference in the near future.

Cheers 🙂

@Maria

Thank you so much for the news Maria, very much appreciated.

In the interests of fairness I can confirm that I have been playing a list for around four (4) hours now  without any interruptions or dropouts.

Hopefully this issue has been solved now, and if that is so then please accept our sincere and genuine thanks to everyone who has worked on a solution.

The next, big question, what compensation are Spotify going to offer us? You need to be fair to your customers and for a month at least we've not been getting the service for which we've been charged. Can I respectfully suggest that we are, at the very least, credited with a *free* month?

There is a seperate issue that arises from this incident though, although I'm quite happy to admit that this may be down to my ignorance of the site and if this so then perhaps someone could point me, gently, in the right direction? I had real problems trying to find a "Status" page on this site or on Spotify's homepage?

What would have been great would have been a banner notification on the app telling us that there had been a reported issue involving Spotify and Alexa speakers. I'm sure it couldn't be that difficult to engineer? After all there are plenty of pop-ups on the app in general, so a status update regarding technical issues would be extremely helpful, it would have saved me a *lot* of money!

I had, innocently, assumed that Spotify couldn't go wrong so badly, for so long, and I was blaming my WiFi router/hub! I ended up spending money on a new router to try and solve the issue. Yes, yes, I now know I should have checked the Community to see if there was a wider issue, but isn't hindsight wonderful!

Any thoughts, Maria?

Thanks again, and if there are any further dropouts I promise to update the community.

Ps. Someone said they asked their Echo about an update but just for info, Gen 4 Echo devices, i.e. the newer round, ball-shaped speakers are cloud based so you don't need to do anything, it's all done behind the scenes.

Well you are a lucky one. As for me it still isn’t working. Been trying all this morning and yes I’ve tried all the suggestions. Still no joy.
