Shuffle not working on iOS

Hey folks!

 

Some of you have reported that Shuffle isn't working on iOS. Nothing happens when you tap on the Shuffle icon - only Smart Shuffle seems to work.
This is being looked into 🙂

While this is being looked into, let us know the following details:

1.  Your device's make & model, as well as its OS version
2. Your Spotify app version
3. Does Shuffle not appear as an option in the playlist view and is it shown in the 'Now Playing' view?
4. Description of the exact issue:
     a) Does Shuffle turn off after selecting a particular song?
     b) Are the Shuffle and repeat buttons completely greyed out and unclickable?

It would be of help if you could share with us a short video recording or a link to e.g. an unlisted YouTube video/ Google Drive upload of what is going on on your ends.

Having the same issue as everyone else on my iPhone 16 pro max as the second user on a duo account. I read through this entire thread and tried all the solutions with no fix. Seems from what I’ve been reading Spotify support continually suggests the same fix, says their tech team is looking into it, and never does anything to fix the problem.

Shuffle works on the web browser or in the play window on the app but on

I don’t know what happened, but my account got logged out of the app on its own. I logged back in, and since then I haven’t had any issues,  the shuffle mode is working perfectly.

 

I don’t know if something was fixed, but in any case, I’m not having any more problems.

Hi, my shuffle doesn’t work either, the button is just greyed out on the playlist main menu and on the ‘now playing’ section and just doesn’t work.

Hey! I’m also having this issue, were you able to figure out how to fix it?

Hello, you can replicate the issue by creating a brand new account and signing up to premium. As soon as a new account goes from free to premium the shuffle button on the playlist stops working entirely. I’ve tried to create multiple new accounts and run in to the same issue every time.

To help us with the investigation, it would be great if you could share the following info (if you've not already done so):

  • Does Shuffle not appear as an option in the playlist view, but it does show in the now playing view?
  • Does Shuffle turn off after selecting a particular song?
  • Are Shuffle and the repeat button completely greyed out and unclickable?
  • Device(s) and OS-version(s) this is happening on. 
  • What TS steps you've performed.

Make sure you're on the latest Spotify app version and you can also send a video recording so we can take a look. You can attach it to your response via the Insert Video option in the post editor or upload it to Google Drive (if the attachment's too big) and share the link with us

My Question or Issue

As seen in the images and as expected in this support article (image from article also attached), the shuffle indicator in playlist view does not reflect the shuffle status of the playlist. I have to click into the song to whether or not my playlist is shuffling.
