My Question or Issue

I have never had issues watching videos on Spotify but for some reason they have recently stopped.

I can’t watch any videos or podcasts.

I’ve checked all the audio quality settings etc and cannot understand why they aren’t working any longer.

When playing a podcast with video, I'm no longer getting the video appear. This is on the Windows 10 app. Always used to work. Have then tried on a mobile and getting the same issue. I've gone back to previous episodes in case if was an issue with just this one episode, but the old ones which always worked before have the same issue. Audio plays fine, but I only get to see the podcast logo and not the video which normally plays. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify on the laptop, I've cleared the local cache, and still no joy

Hello! I don't know if it helps but my problem was that my Spotify was connected to my Alexa. The video was "playing" on my alexa so it didn't appear on my computer. To resolve it I just change the device I wanted Spotify to be playing.

Hey guys. The same problem is happening to me with Joe Rogan podcast (but basically any podcast really).

I am located in Armenia.

My Question or Issue

No video feature for podcasts, only the episode cover. Only audio streaming settings are all off. Please help.

I have the exact same problem, with every video podcast / music. I tried everything:( I’m from Germany

What device does this occur on? If possible, could you try logging in on another device or on the Web Player to see if everything looks good there?

 

Note that on the desktop app you need to open the Now Playing View in order to access the video. Could you confirm you've tried that?

Video podcast won't play.
Version 8.8.96.364
Google pixel pro 6
JRE/Lex Friedman podcasts.

Problem is that video podcasts won't play. Audio only podcasts/songs will play but I have to go into the app to pause/skip because it no longer shows on lockscreen when audio is playing. However whatever podcast the problem started on will always show as playing when I swipe down the menu from the top. I hope that makes sense. I've had the problem twice. Both times it been on a podcast I had downloaded. My device is up to date. Both times I've fixed it by deleting and reinstalling the app. The other fix options listed above dont work. In settings it says video won't stream when Spotify is backrounded. Maybe this has something to do with it because it seems to think the video podcast is still in the background. As a side note I'm currently travelling between a few countries in South America. Maybe that's something. Good luck and thanks in advance!

Going to cancel subscription. The app quality has become poor. Everything takes a lengthy time to load regardless of wi-fi or 5G.

@Ethanbetts64, you mentioned that you've been traveling. We've looked into this, and it's possible that some that due to some restriction in certain regions, videos won't be available for podcasts.

Could you let us know if you've tried any troubleshooting so far @username4now? It would also be great if you could send us some more details of the behavior you're experiencing. Especially as we have been spotting some odd behavior with Pixel phones, we want to get more insight on what is happening and what your set up is. Feel free to include a video of how things look from your end as well.

My Question or Issue

I have been watching Distractable with no issues until recently. Sometimes when trying to watch the video I am met with a black screen and nothing plays. No audio and no video. This happens after i stop watching the podcast, or I use the timer function. It doesnt seem to be a Wifi issue as I can still listen to music or listen ti my other podcasts (that do not use the video function).

 

I am in Thailand for the winter break and have been using my VPN. Might that be the issue? I have tried deleting the app and clean reinstalling it but it doesnt seen to work. Restarting my phone hasnt helped. The only thing that seems ti work is force stopping the app, but then I am met with the same issue again.

I’m having issues recently with videos 

They don’t seem to play at all on all my iPhones and laptop now 

they used to work fine 

my friends accounts are working fine 

I checked the audio download and it was off 

what else might be causing this?? 
I can’t watch my podcasts now 

 

I Noticed something weird too 

when I press share the video pops up???? 
like why isn’t playing then?

I came here with the exact same issue with Distractible! I'm in the US, not using a VPN, and I'm at home on wifi. I tried turning on/off the audio-only settings, switching to data, and the other troubleshooting things you tried, but nothing worked. Good to know it's not just me!

My Question or Issue

Podcasts that have video playback will not play AT ALL on my phone. I have tried ALL of the solutions, and it is quite frustrating. The solutions like: 
1. Turning on/off data saver 
2. Turning on/off Video streaming (Stream Audio only) 
3. Adjusting video/audio playback quality 
4. Turning on/off Explicit Content 
5. Downloading any podcast with video 
6. Reinstalling Spotify app multiple times

However, on my windows PC (running Windows 11) and my iPad (running iPad OS 17.2) are devices that work on any podcast with video. 

Please find a solution, as I can't just bring my ipad around with me everywhere. I've first noticed this issue a month ago, and till today there has been no updates on this. Even in this community page, it seems so much of the solutions posted by "admins" are answered by robots/ai 😞

I have the same issue and I've tried all the methods mentioned above to solve it but still nothing works

I've tried to listen to the "call her daddy" podcast and even tried it on joe rogan podcast and nothing

So I'm thinking maybe it's the country I'm in

Is this feature not available in egypt?

Or could it be because i own ana android? Idk at this point

Just to confirm, are you not able to listen to any podcasts or only the ones you mentioned? Also, can you just not watch the video, but you can listen to the audio?

Yes i have tried other podcasts and they all have the same issues

And i can listen to the audios but can't watch the viseos

Could it be the country I'm in?

It does indeed seem possible that this is related to the country you're currently in, as there are certain restrictions in some countries and regions. This means that the video for the podcast might not be available, however, you should still be able to listen to the audio of the podcasts.
