Hi, I'm in Australia and currently have Premium Individual. When I look to change plans, I get options like:
- Basic Individual
- Premium Student
- Premium Duo
- Premium Family
I've been told by friends with Basic Family that it's like Premium, but cheaper as it doesn't have Audio Books. PERFECT!!
But when I go online, I can't get it, it's not there.
My renewal date is the 12th. So:
Q) If I change today to 'Premium Family', after the 13th will I then have Basic Family as an option to change to?
In the meantime, I chatted to online help, and I've changed from Premium Individual to Basic Individual. So where I was looking at spending more with Spotify, I've actually changed spend less!
Hey @Aussie_max ,
Thanks for reaching out.
The Basic plan is only available to existing Premium subscribers who subscribed before a specific cutoff date. If you’re eligible, you’ll see Basic as an option on your account page. Also note: if you cancel Basic, you won’t be able to resubscribe to it.
Because you previously had Premium Individual and started your subscription before the cutoff date, you were eligible for Basic Individual. Unfortunately, you can’t access any other Basic plans.
I hope this clears things up 🙂
What was the cutoff date? I've had spotify premium family since Dec 2024 and cannot switch to basic
Hey there, @jennlau530,
The cut-off date varies between markets, but in any case, if you don't see the option to switch to a Basic plan on your account page, then you aren't eligible, I'm afraid.
Hope this clears things up.
HEY SPOTIFY .... It's totally disgusting that you don't offer BASIC plan to all.
Not all of us are in COUPLES or FAMILIES and therefore on one income some of us would like the 'luxury' of no adds without having to fork out ridiculous fees. Shame on you discriminating against the singles out there.
My family basic plan that I switched to now is giving me ads when listening to music, is this new? Because I've never had ads.
I'm having this same problem suddenly too!
I just started having this problem today as well. Wondering if they secretly changed how the plan will work.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for coming to the Community.
Spotify is aware that some Basic Plan users are getting ads, despite their accounts appearing as Premium, and they're currently investigating this. You can find more info here.
Me too!
hello, i have a basic duo plan and want to change to basic family plan. i see the plan in my account as an eligible plan but don't know how to change to it? If I want to change my plan, i only see family premium. Pls help.
Hey @Jess7119,
Thanks for reaching out.
Unfortunately, you can't do that, since you're on Duo. If you were on Premium Family and subscribed before a certain date, it might let you switch to Basic Family.
You can switch to Premium Family at any time, though. Just keep in mind that you will not be able to return to your Basic Duo plan.
I hope this clears things up!
Just had look to join family basic I seen posted. There are so many gaps in the subscriptions. The numbers in the family and missing basic package. I'll stick with free.
