My Question or Issue

I got emails saying my playlists had been taken down. Below is the text of one of the emails:

'Hello,

We have found the following content to be in violation of our content policies, and we have removed it. Please see our Spotify Terms and Conditions of Use for more information.

(Playlist url code)
Regards,

Spotify'

The big question is: What is it about? What was the violation and why am I allegedly in breach of Spotify's Terms and Conditions of Use?

I've been using Spotify on the Premium plan for years, and that's just now (and with my biggest playlists). They lost their name and photo. My playlists have become the second largest in the category they are in, so I have strong suspicions that the takedowns are due to malicious reports.

I humbly and kindly ask for an explanation of what happened and why it happened and a solution.

Sincerely,

Lucas.

The only way to save your playlist is to download it on your phone. Someone keeps taking it down my playlist because my playlist is awesome, they took down my playlist 10 times now, lol

my playlist name was "music to zone out cross-eyed style to" just referring to music you can relax and zone out (i have adhd) to, kind of was trying to be funny, but I don't see what could possibly be offensive about this title? I'd love to get some help shedding light on this, thanks

Hey guys! im currently having this issue with my playlist.. is there any way i can solve the problem?

am genuinely confused as to why my playlist cover and accompanying information text have been taken down. As far as I am aware, I have not violated any rules or guidelines outlined by Spotify

Same issue.

Same issue. Spotify keeps removing my playlist, citing a violation of terms and conditions. It's nothing more than a collection of songs. What's the violation? I was curious so I started the process of reporting a random user's playlist (I didn't actually report it). The options I had to choose from were: 1) Sexual content, 2) Violent or dangerous, 3) Hateful or abusive, 4) Deceptive content, and 5) I just don't like it. The first four options are fair, but the last one, "I just don't like it," seems silly. I probably wouldn't like 99.9% of the playlists on Spotify but I would never report them. I just won't listen to them. That's why I have my own playlists. Spotify...please remove "I just don't like it" as an option for reporting and I suspect this problem will go away.

This is maddening. I have a playlist that I use to help promote independent artists. I made my own cover image and it has been removed due to "content policies" 6 times in the last week.

My issue with Spotify is this: Why are you blindly taking the word of bots instead of vetting the removal request first?

I have tried emailing and tweeting Spotify support but have gotten no replies.

Please protect my playlist. spotify:playlist:5hgCA9CfVwxzLzE8fZFzu1

I am having this problem currently and Spotify's customer support chat function did absolutely nothing to fix it. My playlist has been taken down 4 times today and I don't think I should have to perpetually keep it privated to avoid someone abusing the report function.

I also having been getting this same email from Spotify about 2-3 times a week for several months -- it always is targeted at the same playlist (an ordinary playlist of old pop & rock music with over 24,000 likes)  When it gets "removed" -- it's not removed but the title and description are stripped. I don't understand why someone keeps reporting it -- and why Spotify is allowing it. I've been a premium member for 14 years.  This is ridiculous.

Yup. If Spotify would remove "I just don't like it" as an option for reporting I suspect this problem will go away. In the meantime, I'm adding the name and description back in nearly every day. Frustrating.

Same here. Best advice I can give for now is: Make backups of your playlists!

man look at this bullsh*t. it’s so annoying stop taking my playlist down for no reason.

I feel like when Spotify does this, I feel like us users that use our imagination and creativity in creating interesting and entertaining playlists, we are being regulated like we have to be licensed like being licensed by the FCC.  I feel like each playlist is like a radio channel, and it has to be moderated, regulated and controlled by the system.  Sometimes I might re-consider creating playlists in another platform.  And why should Spotify raise subscription prices to up to a dollar more when you keep on removing good playlists that we create, and also remove great music we listen to?   Just remember,  Spotify is not the radio, it's a streaming service.  When will Spotify issue us broadcast license like radio stations with our call signs?    I feel do disappointed at this that I have to go out of my way to post what I feel about this corruption and media control we are dealing with day by day while the pricing of subscriptions keep on rising year after year!

So, Spotify continues to remove my playlist title and description I think it’s like 6 times at this point. I have contacted support multiple times with no resolution or explanation for this issue. I’m growing increasingly irritated at this point. I don’t see what the issue could be even after going over the list of rules they sent in the email alerting me to taking it down over and over again. There are various other playlist with a very similar name/content. It’s literally a playlist I made of songs for reading “spicy” books. Can somebody help me since Spotify chat, Facebook support, and replying to the takedown email ( that the agent instructed me to do so and then never heard back from) hasn’t helped at all. I have reached on on Twitter now too but I’m not hopeful it will help at this point.

I understand that the feature would help stop it going into the future but how do I go about getting this reversed now?

My playlist was literally my baby, have been building it out all year! Was about to hit 3K. Absolutely no violations at all. No copyright, nothing inappropriate.

Please undo this or can someone point me the right direction to get this changed?

Since 2016, I have been meticulously compiling a playlist of all the women in hip hop, in chronological order beginning with the earliest pioneers in 1979 and continuing to the present day. There were hundreds of songs on it, with only one song per artist. Really it was meant to be more of a research resource than something you'd actually listen to in order or on shuffle - too many different eras and styles (and levels of talent, tbh) for that to appeal to most. But it was an invaluable resource for anyone looking into the history of women in this extremely male-dominated genre - in fact it had already been used by a writer doing a book on the topic, as well as the makers of the recent Netflix documentary on women in hip hop, who contacted me over a year ago. It only had about 800 followers, but they had been added a few at a time over the past 6 years, and I was proud of that number.

Today I woke up to find an email telling me the playlist has been removed, with a link to a vague list of rules. Nothing specific at all about which rule it violated. No chance to fix the problem. It's just gone. There is no backup of this information. The very particular chronological sequence that it was in, the lesser known artists who I'll probably never be able to remember and track down, the bits and pieces that I've spent years assembling piece by piece using books, documentaries, magazines, online research - all of it, vanished. I have no other way to access this archive that I spent years of my life working on.

I'm so angry I want to punch a wall. I want an explanation for this, and I want to know how to get my information and my research back, even if it's only as a private playlist.

Try doing a google search for your playlist - that's how I found mine, missing its title. Everything was still there, including the followers, except for the title and pic. I re-added the title, description, and pic, and put it back pretty much exactly how it was, and will continue to do so (every day if I have to) until somebody actually tells me what rule it violates and what needs to be changed.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with a frustrating issue that some of you might be going through as well. I manage a playlist with over 10k followers, and suddenly, I started receiving numerous reports on it. It was incredibly irritating and seemed like someone was deliberately targeting my playlist.

After researching and reaching out to Spotify support, which unfortunately didn't yield any results, I decided to investigate further. My suspicion was that a bot had been deployed to repeatedly report my playlist. To confirm my theory, I created a different Spotify account to see if my playlist had been copied. To my dismay, I discovered that my playlist had been copied multiple times by others.

This situation made me quite upset, and I couldn't just stand by and accept it. So, I took matters into my own hands and developed a script to counteract this bot. It was a challenging journey since I had never created a script before, but after a lot of research and effort, I successfully created a script that constantly refreshed and updated my playlist whenever it was reported.

I'm delighted to say that my playlist is now back in action and can be found again. I know that many of you might be facing similar issues, and Spotify's support might not always provide a quick solution. That's why I'm here to offer my help. If you're interested in the script I created to protect your playlists, please feel free to reach out to me by sending an reply

I'm more than willing to assist you in resolving this issue and protecting your hard-earned playlists.

Let's support each other and keep our playlists thriving on Spotify!

Same issue, I don't know what exactly to do to solve this problem. I had two playlists with 2000 followers and both has taken down for no reason. I sent messages to the support but they said we don't have any idea to help you.

My Question or Issue

Hi, 3 of my playlists (but one in particular spotify:playlist:3I2ksuaEpNyhVzczDBtnDM) is CONSTANTLY being 'takendown'. It's happened 6 times in the last 1.5 hours. The photo used is one i took myself, there is no explicit words used in the title, description or any of the tracks! The only tracks on it are from spotify. There is absolutely no reason for it to be taken down. I suspect someone with a similar playlist is reporting it (although that seems really stupid), but it is really annoying that this keeps happening and i have had to re-instate it 6 times just today! This has been happening all week! Surely there is something spotify can do to stop this?
