Audiobooks repeat chapters

My Question or Issue

When I use my phone on Apple CarPlay through my 2025 Subaru Forester, the chapter will repeat over and over. The queue will show that same current chapter multiple times, not how it's normally showing subsequent chapters. When I switch views to my phone (not on my car's screen) it will load the normal chapter sequence.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, and if it's an Apple CarPlay issue, my car, or the Spotify App, or something specific about Audiobooks. I haven't experienced this with albums or music lists.

My Question or Issue

For the last week or so, when I start my car and listen to my audiobook on Spotify, the first track/chapter plays on repeat. If I hit the skip forward button, the same track still repeats. To fix it, I have to get my phone out, open the list of all tracks in the audiobook, and manually select the next track/chapter. After doing that once, it auto-advances to the next track without any issues. However, when I start my car the next time, the issue happens again.

I have the same problem connecting to a 2026 CRV. iPhone 11, ISO 18.7.8, Spotify version 9.1.59

Since the queue looks correct on the phone but shows duplicate chapters only in CarPlay, this seems more like a Spotify audiobook/CarPlay sync issue than a Subaru issue. Try switching chapters manually, restarting Spotify, or reconnecting CarPlay to refresh the queue. If it happens with multiple audiobooks but not music, it may be a Spotify audiobook bug worth reporting.

This same issue is happening to me. Here is my information.

Phone / IOS: Iphone 17 Pro / 26.5.1
Spotify Version: 9.1.58
Late occured date:  6/22/2026
Video: none, because I'm driving. 
Car: Ford Bronco. Not sure if it might be an interaction with Spotify/Apple car play/Ford Infotainment system.
Does this happen on different mobile device?:  not sure, don't use any other phones.

Same problem and to add some additional information, when I click on an audio book from the main screen in car play, the queue is populated with that same chapter again and again. If I click on recents, click the audiobook and click resume audiobook, the queue is populated appropriately 

 I have a video but it’s too large to attach

I have this problem when using carplay in my Mini Aceman 2025.  The same audiobook chapter is repeated and the carplay UI won't let me skip to the next chapter.  I have to pick up my phone and go into the next chapter by selecting it in the chapter view.  The iOS app is also not tracking the chapters that I have listened to properly, but the PC app is fully up to date.

I have this topic in different Cars when I using CarPlay and hear audiobooks. I am using an IPhone 17 and an IPhone 13 with the latest versions of IOS and Spotify app. It occurs first time end of April beginning of May with an update of the app. Since then I was driven BYDs, VWs and Skodas. All of them was affected. My assumption is that the app has a bug

I had the same issue and thought it'd be worth raising with Spotify support, but I've ended up just getting sent the same troubleshooting steps over and over. It's genuinely frustrating, it feels like the agents aren't actually reading through what I've sent them. I've attached photos and videos of the issue directly to the emails and shared a Google Drive link as well, but I'm still being sent round in circles. At this point, it feels less like they're trying to properly escalate the issue with their internal teams, and more like they're just trying to close tickets quickly.

same problem with iPhone 17 Pro running iOS 26.5.1 in a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Very unsafe to try and find the correct chapter while driving!

I am also experiencing this issue. CarPlay in a 2019 VW Tiguan. Phone is iPhone 16 Pro, all software up to date as of 7/7.

It seems that listening to the book in CarPlay messes with the queue. I was in my car for 30 minutes, came home, continued listening on my phone mid-chapter. When the chapter ended 10 minutes later, it restarted. After reading this article, I looked at my queue, and sure enough, chapter 59 was there twice.
