Spotify recently released a new version of the now playing screen. The time now hides after a few seconds.

 

It's been a common complaint, so I think Spotify is aware of the feedback.

On "Now Playing": Bring back the time scale at all times, make album artwork bigger, get the menu bar back.

 

So eventually you'll have the "older" version back... 😉 And it was great and didn't need changing!
