I can't hear any music playing from my Spotify Connect speaker (Libratone Zipp from 2012) and I'm wondering if something changed today in the Spotify Connect protocol or streaming format?
I see the speaker listed as a Spotify Connect destination when using the Spotify app on iOS or Mac Desktop. I can select the speaker and the app behaves as if everything is fine; the progress position moves along and I can adjust volume. The speaker comes out of standby but no music actually comes out it.
I have tried restarting the speaker and have confirmed that it plays back fine using AirPlay. But Spotify Connect seems to have stopped working.

Getting the same issue. From android, mac laptop and windows pc.
I have 2 spotify connect speakers (phillips sw750m and sw700m)
Both where working on 2nd September.
Then on 3rd September, The sw700m refused to play music, but was commected as i could change the volume on the speaker and it was updating in app.
Now (4th September) both speakers refuse to play music.
Have tried from both accounts on our Duo plan, restarted everything etc.
Same problem with my two hifiberrys, until the 2nd September everything was fine, now Spotify Connect seems to be broken.
In my case the Spotify App (Android and Macos) is also jumping to the next track every five to ten seconds.
Same here, i've 5 HifiBerrys and non of it works. Today ist the second day without music :/.
Same problem here with various clients
Same here, on Philips SW700, when selected in Spotify app, the green LED just blinks and progres bar goes to pause. Won't Play at all. Restarting speaker doesn't do a thing. Checked my router settings, all good. This jus starter bieg September. Any updates?
I am having the same issue with my streamers: Hifiberry (HifiberryOS) AND AlloBoss2 (VolumioOS) which means that BOTH my setups won´t play at all !! Both are well-known , widespread streaming Platforms....
@Spotify: PLS Fix the issue asap this is VERY ANNOYING ... or I wil be gone FOREVER
I've reported to Spotify Support for my Libratone speaker, and encourage you to do the same so that they see that this is a wider Spotify Connect issue.
I hope this isn't something permanent... I'm in the UK. Are you?
Have you seen any other mention of it online?
Have you tried changing your router's DNS to 8.8.8.8? That seemed to help people when they had the identical problem a couple of years back.
Cheers
Same problem since yesterday on my Libratone speaker. I've reported it to Spotify Support and encourage others to do the same so that it's clear that this is a wider Spotify Connect issue. https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/

Thanks. Will also report and ask that others do the same.
👍🏼

I just tried the 8.8.8.8 DNS setting but it didn't help. Looks like this is something in the Spotify Connect backend.
Thes same on onkyo 8150
I hadn't been able to change the DNS setting, but I heard one of my speakers beep, and I just tested it and it's now working again. 👍🏼
I hope you guys have success, too!
Yes, my Libratone Zipp has suddenly started working again too! 😅
My speaker suddenly started working again. Something must have been fixed in the backend. 😅
Thank you for the heads up, I can confirm the issue has resolved itself 👍🏻
Same for me on both my players - Cambridge Audio Minx Xi and LG Music Flow. Music is playing via my android phone but when I try to send to the mentioned speakers, they cannot start to play.
Technical support has done something to fix part of the problem. Don't fully understand what the problem was by my AV system now works again on Spotify Connect.
No Chromecast tho.
