when I am playing a playlist the queue suddenly keeps starting from the beginning. I don’t have shuffle on and I am on Wi-Fi and casting to my tv using a chromecast.

  • I don't know if it can help, but I have the same problem for several week and I try uninstall and install last update and nothing work. but after going to my account setting and use the log out everywhere option I don't have the problem anymore. Hope it can help
  • https://www.spotify.com/us/account/overview/

  • Device model + OS version (If it's only happening on a smart speaker, include speaker model) : Apple 12 mini, 16.2 OSX, streaming through Sonos Beam & One
  • Spotify version: Latest have deleted and redownloaded a few times
  • Does it happen when you're listening from the device itself or when connected to a speaker? Bluetooth/ WiFi/ Cable: happens in all scenarios, listening directly from phone, or stream to Sonos or my TV which is direct hardwire to Sonos Beam
  • Does it happen with every playlist or podcast? It seems to only happen with *Spotify Playlists* not ones I myself make

I tried this fix tonight and so far so good after a couple of hours and several different playlists.

  • Pixel 6a phone
  • Latest Spotify version
  • Happens when connecting to Amazon Echo and Echo Dot. Seemed to start occurring when I connected new Echo Dots to my network (ran 1 Echo for years with no issue)
  • Happens with every playlist, shuffled or not

Samsung Galaxy A13 5G

Latest Spotify version

Happens when I'm connected to my Bluetooth headphones or google nest mini

I did a clean re-install last night and it fixed it for about 12 hours but I'm not going to keep doing that every day

Logging out from all devices has also worked for me so far. or is working fine right now.

I have also been having this issue on Google Pixel 6.  If I start somewhere on the playlist while repeat is on and shuffle isn't, as soon as the song finishes it goes back to the start of the playlist again.  Issue seems recent.

Same issue. Plays 2 songs and goes back to beginning of playlist.

iPhone 14 pro max

Playing to Sonos

Spotify duo

reinstalled app

version 8.7.94.551

I have the same problem on my iPhone 11 pro, iOS 16.2, Spotify 8.7.94.551 when connected to my Sonos Symfonisk speakers, happens with every playlist/album/artist radio.

I seem to have fixed it. I went on my desktop and signed out all accounts. I then deleted the Spotify app on my phone from the settings menu. Restarted my phone. Reinstalled the app. I’ve managed to play 11 songs now without it skipping back to the beginning. I’ll update this thread if the issue reappears.

This is happening to me a well. After doing some tests, I'm finding that it will only happen when connected to one of my echo dots via Spotify Connect.

The sign out of all accounts was only a temporary fix for me. The problem is back. This is extremely frustrating.

Is this problem being actively addressed by Spotify? Moderator Alex sent note on 12/27 but still no update on fix or actual resolution?

...and really. logging out of all devices only temporarily solves the problem... I'll stick with MusicCast control and closing the Spotify app after selecting the list until the bug is fixed by Spotify!

When connected to my home's sound system, next track is always the first song of the playlist, no matter if shuffle is turned on or not.

Signing out of all accounts also only a temporary fix for me. In less than 24 hours, the same problem is back again. It would be nice to get some sort of update from Spotify about what is being done about this. It's beginning to be more than an irritation!

It's not simply a matter of keeping the app up-to-date. We all have multiple devices for both playing and listening. We should be able to have basic functionality from phone/laptop/iPad to WiFi or Bluetooth speaker. It's what we pay for. If the bug fix works for my WiFi Sonos, will it work for the Bluetooth in my car?

Moderator, Could you provide link to where I can get credit or refund for the extended time that Spotify has been dysfunctional? Thank you!

1/10/23 Update:  Since toggling the shuffle icon off then back on as noted below, the 3-5 song repeat issue has resolved itself on all my devices (Desktop, Android, iOS).  Been playing fine for a few days now.  Seems too easy, but hopefully helps others.

Maybe a fix - I turned-off/disabled shuffle, played a couple of songs in order and then turned shuffle back on and it seems to shuffle properly now on all platforms. I normally paly all my playlists on shuffle and never disable it.  Maybe a glitch when the app updated and shuffle didn't?

My Issue: This has been happening since around Jan. 1st to me too on iOS, Android, Desktop, all versions of the app seem to be stuck in a 3-5 song shuffle loop. When I leave a personally created playlist (e.g. go to a podcast) and come back to it, I hit play and it doesn't shuffle to a new song like it used to, it starts where I left off on the song when it was paused. Then it plays 3 songs or so and is stuck in a loop playing the exact same 3 or so songs. And yes, iOS and Android have no updates to install.

It’s actually getting worse. Now it starts  I can only play albums through my HEOS speakers. So Spotify is pretty useless for me, as I don’t want to listen to music through my phone.
