My Question or Issue
when I am playing a playlist the queue suddenly keeps starting from the beginning. I don’t have shuffle on and I am on Wi-Fi and casting to my tv using a chromecast.
Hey there folks,
Our tech folks have worked their magic backstage and this issue should now be fixed 🙂
In order to have the fix pushed on your device, we'd need you to restart the app a few times.
As a workaround we can also suggest that you start the playback on the phone then pick a device to play on Connect. Once it plays on the speaker you close the app on the phone - the playlist will continue to play on the speaker.
We're always working on improving your experience. Make sure to that you keep the app up to date with the latest version, so that you don't miss out on any fixes.
Cheers!
Thanks for the tip, Aure-l-ain. The update to the app seems to have solved this for me.
Mods - last weeks with Spotify was an awful experience, playlists not working, servers down yesterday. Where do I apply for a refund?
The issue persists - just had the same error on webplayer, it jumped back to the first track of the playlist.
Hey folks,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
Just to be on the same page, have you restarted the app a few times as mentioned before? Also, have you tried the workaround sent by @Lyubka to see if it works for you in the meantime?
If so and the issue persists, don't forget to include in your next response the make, model and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout.
The issue persists when playing an album (not a playlist) even with with Settings > Autoplay similar content turned OFF.
* Spotify Version 8.9.24.633 under Android 14 on Samsung Galaxy Smartphone SM-A546E
* Spotify Version 8.9.24.633 under ChromeOS Version 122.0.6261.137 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Lenovo Ideapad Duet 5
Same problem on my end, nothing has been fixed. I've also tried different devices, still persists on Android and iOS.
Hey @gLOWbal,
Thanks for reaching out.
Have you checked if the same happens with a different account? Also, let us know the models, OS versions and Spotify app versions of the devices you've tested this on.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
This problem has definitely not been fixed.
I regularly play music on my android phone and on my PC desktop.
If I am listening on my phone, and then fire up spotify on my desktop, the "up next" from the playlist is retained and everything goes along nicely.
Now when I try to do the same thing with my Tesla, the currently playing song does kick in, but the up next starts at the beginning of the playlist. Similarly, when I get out of the car and go to my phone, it is where I left it.
I do use offline mode on my phone (because I fly often and like to have my library available offline), so I was wondering whether that has a side effect of not synchronising the playlist and current song.
Thanks in advance
Craig
I‘m using Spotify version 8.9.54.343 on ios 15.8.2 in combination with Spotify Connect Marantz NR1200.
after a few tracks the shuffeled playlist always plays jumps back to the first track played and then the exact same tracs follow as before. Super annoying. This is not an issue once I disconnect from the Spotify Connect device
Hi are you still having this issue. It keeps happening to me and I was curious if you found a solution!
It is happening to me too!!

My Question or Issue
Today I started experiencing an issue where every time the app restarts, and sometimes even when it doesn’t, the playlist I am listening to restarts from the first song. Not only do I have to constantly skip around to find where I was previously in the playlist, but now all of those skipped songs are showing up in my listening history as well, even when I’m not relistening to any of them.
Hey @kylexmccarthy,
Thanks for letting us know! Could you also share with us your Spotify app version?
Anyone else still experiencing this issue who hasn't done so already, please do the same and let us know what your affected device is, as well as its OS version.
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂
Spotify version 8.9.94. I had never seen this issue happen prior to this update.
Hey @kylexmccarthy,
Thanks for the details!
Can you confirm if this happens with Spotify Connect or if it's only on your phone? It'd be great if you can try clearing the queue, then restarting the app, starting the playlist you've encountered this issue with and then restarting the app again to check if it will resume playback or if it will start from the beginning.
@Milton9 @Leokensakuchan Are you still experiencing this issue? If yes, can you try the above, provide more information around what exactly happens on your end and send us the Spotify version you're currently running? That would be very much appreciated!
Keep us posted.
Yes the problem still happening. I have version 8.9.94.418
This is happening on my phone. I tried those steps and the same thing is still happening to the playlist every time the app refreshes.
