My Question or Issue: Over the last few days since updating to new ios version, I have noticed that my phone becomes very hot while using spotify and the battery drains quicker than usual. I have made sure all other apps are closed out while using and still it heats my phone very quickly. I also checked and streaming quality is set to automatic (not sure if this would have any effect). Any help is appreciated

Hi there @ag3434,

Thanks for the reply. We'll be glad to help you with the app and its battery usage.

To start off, let's make sure we have our bases covered. If you haven't already, try the following:

  • If you've enabled Local Files, disable them and see if the issue persists.
  • Disable Background Refresh from the iOS settings under General.
  • Perform a full clean reinstall.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your patience.

Would you mind confirming whether the issue still persists after the latest Spotify update? If you're not currently running the latest version, we'd recommend updating it by following the steps mentioned here.

We'll be waiting for your responses.

Tried updating and still getting the same issue - had this with both iPhone 16 and iPhone 17

Having the same issue on iPhone 16. Spotify app is updated. Anyone has found the solution?

Hey @aluhsna & @Constant_overheating,

Thank you for letting us know.

Please share with us the following details:

  • The OS version of your devices:
  • The currently installed Spotify app version:
  • Are you experiencing rapid battery drain?
  • If the device is getting hotter than usual, how long does that roughly take?

Once we have these details, we'll be able to let the folks backstage know that the issue still persists across some devices.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

Notice that my iPhone 17 gets warm during cellular streaming, especially with low signal. einstalled Spotify, updated everything - it was on iOS 26, now on iOS 27 beta - and there's zero difference; the phone is hot. The only thing that helps a bit is switching to offline mode and auto quality, which makes it heat up less. Meanwhile, Apple Music doesn't have this issue at all, even when streaming in lossless quality.

Having the exact same issue the last number of months and have diagnosed it as the Spotify app causing phone (iPhone 17 Pro) to overheat.

iOS 26.6.1

Hey folks,

Thank you for your messages and sorry for the late reply.

To make sure we've got all bases covered, and if you haven't tried it yet, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps mentioned here.

We'd also recommend checking if your iPhone's battery is also draining faster.

Lastly, include the exact Spotify version you're currently running in your next response, so we can continue investigating this further.

We'll be waiting for your response.
