Error Code 408 FRUSTRATION

Okay I am in Mexico, for longer than 14 days, I am using free.

I have been repeatedly asked to change my country settings - which I have done.
My profile says I'm in Mexico, the website has the Mexican flag even, but STILL I cannot log in and access anything at all.... I have tried logging in on various platforms web/desktop etc.

 

Please can someone help me! Thanks

I created my account through facebook in the uk and just spent a year in australia and i had no problem changing my country over there but now I am back even though my facebook account says that I live in the uk and I have changed my spotify account country to the uk it still pops up with the same error message and Im not upgrading to premium just to get around it! someone pls help as I have no clue how to fix it

I have recently changed moved country, now spotify gives me error 408, I have already changed location on my profile but spotify won't let me log n and continues giving error 408. I need some help.

I am having the same issue. I am traveling a lot between two countries and so far it has never been a problem. Update country -> Login. Piece of cake.

 

This time it still throws error 408. Very frustrating.

I hope spotify is aware and able to fix that soon.

I am having the same issues. Changed the country to the current one in settings and in FB as well, still can't log into my account. I also already tried to reinstall the app from phone and pc, but nothing changed

This should be fixed now, please, try to log in again, it should work now.

I am having exactly the same problem and I was leaded to this forum to get an answer but I don't see here any. Can you or anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks

If you're seeing the error 408, check that your IP matches the country that is set up on your account.

I have now moved countries, updated my country but it STILL won't let me log in... My profile says US, I'm in New York, I live here and it still will not work... please fix this!

I'm very confused with my Spotify account.

I have moved from Denmark Europe to Perth Australia.

I have a premium account and I still get error 408 every time I go to log on, either on my phone or computer.

I have changed my account details to Australia...

That's odd. Is your account created with Facebook? If so, make sure to change the country from there as well.

I have just changed my face book to Australia-even though I use email for log in.

Unfortunely it still does not work.

Can it have anything to do with my ip address on my phone and computer?

Hey again @steveaustralia!

 

Let's see what else we do to troubleshoot this. First of all, yes, make sure that your computer or other device you have trouble with, displays the same country in your IP address as the one you're in. If it shows up correctly the same country (Australia for example), then see this faq article on how to change your country.

 

If not, check if you have any proxy settings set to show any other country. They could be interfering and causing Spotify to come up with this error message.

I have changed it on my spotify account.

I have done some research and it seems to me that changing an IP address is not so straight forward. I have a mac, using Firefox.

 

I am quite sure that I read somewhere that Spotify abroad is only a problem if you use ''free spotify''... since I pay for Spotify- should I not be able to use my computer which thinks I am still in Denmark?

Hi -

 

I moved from Australia to Canada and found my regular Spotify account (linked with my Facebook account) which I used to have premium on stopped working. My mobile phone carrier (Fido) was having a free Spotify premium subscription deal for 6 months so I jumped on that, but had to create another account. That second account was working fine on my phone, but I downloaded Spotify to listen on my new Macbook, and when I went to sign in I accidentally did the 'sign in with Facebook' link, which of course was trying to login with my old account which is still associated with Australia. However, if I tried to sign in manually with my new account which was created in Canada, and has Canada in my profile, I get error 408. I've checked my IP and it's definitely in Canada. I've uninstalled the Spotify program, removed all the cache/user data library files but when I reinstall the program it still somehow remembers my new account e-mail address in the login field, but doesn't let me log in, again with error 408.

 

This is very frustrating! Please help.

Ok now I just went to go log back in on my phone and the Spotify app is telling me I can't login as I have been abroad for more than 14 days. I am logging in from Canada, with an account I created within Canada, being paid for by a Canadian carrier.

That doesn't sound right. In this case, I'd suggest getting in touch with a member of the Spotify staff so that they can take a look backstage for you. To do that, you can drop them a line on social media (Twitter or Facebook) or by using the contact form. Make sure, if you use the latter, to reply to the automated email you'll receive directing you back to the help pages, even if it's from a no-reply!

 

Support usually gets back within a day or two.

It's still not working... I made sure that my country was correct and it is- and I'm getting super frustrated because I just want to listen to my music! Help!

I'm seeing the error message 408 and being told to update location. I'm in the country it is set to but still can't log in. Why?

I have the same problem. I kept receiving error 408 so I up-graded to Premium and I still receive the same message.

I have the same problem, move from France to Myanmar. Error Code 408... 
I found part of solution (on computer only) I no longer use the app, I use the online player open.spotify.com wich obviously is much less convenient...
