I redeemed a 4 month premium subscription to Spotify via Telstra with my phone number (it was added to my plan). I cancelled this at end of the trial and my account rolled over to free.

My Question or Issue

I have a bit of a tricky one.

Back in January 2023 I redeemed a 4 month premium subscription to Spotify via Telstra with my phone number (it was added to my plan). I cancelled this at end of the trial and my account rolled over to free.
I logged out of this account last night and realised that I didn’t know the login details to log back in. The email address where I received the initial order confirmation and subsequent subscription cancellation emails from Telstra is not associated with a Spotify account. Neither is my Telstra email address. No ability is shown to attempt to login with a phone number.

 

Trying to resubscribe to premium via the Telstra app just brings me to the Spotify login page (I’d love to login….if I had any idea what my username or the email address was.) Using the “forgot password” link just shows me that neither email address is associated with a Spotify account. I have contacted Spotify support and they advised they do not have either of the possible emails in their system and are not linked to a Spotify account. Nor is my phone number. I have contacted Telstra and they advised they do not keep login details and as such can’t help. I don’t understand how I’ve used Spotify for 7 months but yet don’t have any login details!

 

I do remember seeing a username on the Spotify app but it was along the lines of: qusbalfo42@gsiab25@$gffj8768hshaodzx. Just random jinberish, like something auto generated and not something you could possibly remember. I really wish now that I had screenshot that page so I knew the username, or at the very least copied a link to my playlist so I didn’t lose hundreds of songs.

 

Had anyone encountered this or got any idea how I can get back into my account?

I recommend taking a look at this FAQ article, as it might be helpful for you.

 

Also, have you logged into Spotify anywhere else (e.g. the Web Player)? If so, you can check if your login credentials were saved in the browser's password manager.

 

Lastly, you can also check if the login credentials were saved in your iCloud Keychain: https://support.apple.com/HT211146.
