Spotify in Russia

Hi everyone,

I got Spotify back when I was living in the US and right now I'm back in Moscow. I pay for premium since I love this service, but it would make my life a lot easier if I could pay with a Russian card instead of the overly complicated system I have in place now. Today, however, I saw the attached posters near Vinzavod and just now I suddenly heard a Russian ad before a podcast.

First of all, why was there an ad when I have premium? Secondly, why was it in Russian? Thirdly, is Spotify really coming to Russia??

For a Premium account of any sort to work properly, the payment method provided has to mtach the country in which the account was created.

For your second question, some Podcasts have embeded ads in them so that might be the case if you had seen or heard one.

However, if you're encountering ads while listening to music, that's a seperate issue.

For your last question, unfortunately Spotify isn't available in Russia just yet.

Thanks! Yes, I do have Spotify working and I know that podcasts put in ads, but normally they're in the same language as the podcast. The fact that the ad in the first 15 seconds was in Russian and not in English threw me off.

So the posters I saw yesterday were more of a hope for the future?

Spotify had not released any official annoucment about Spotify getting available in Russia just yet.

Therefore, checking out the Spotify News Room or even subscribing to it will provide the right and official info when it arrives.
