Solved!

spotify has stopped.

Hello everyone ! I have an issue since à week. Spotify crashes randomly on my phone with no apparent reason.

My phone : Rooted Galaxy note 3

I used foldermount to sync on my sd card

It worked fine until Last week and now spotify Just crashes randomly. I have to restart my phone to make it Work again. The thing is, when i restart my note 3, it's like spotify didn't "save" any changes and i have to sync again all the songs that i added from the first time it crashed. And all m'y deleted playlists (even not sync) are here again.

Thank you for your help !

Right. I think the SD card is the culprit and I also think that it's correupt and faulty.

You should contact Sandisk using the form here and provide them with all the detail of things you've tried. You could send them a link to this thread so they can see a history of what we have tried. Hopefully it should be covered by standard warranty and they'll do an RMA for you.

Why are you using folder mount? Your cache should be going to external SD anyway. Can you run a clean install as detailed in the link in my signature and see if the tracks are doing to the SD card ok without additional work?

Hi and thank you Daniel !
I tried your clean re-install, but i can't delete "com.spotify.music"  properly on my sd-card. I tried deleting the file with the explorer in my phone. Even formating the card on my phone and my computer don't work... *sigh* What can i do ?

*EDIT* I unquoted "quick format" and it appears to work !

It says that windows couldn't do the format of my sd card 😞

Can you try to format it in your phone? Insert the card then go to settings - storage. Scroll to the bottom and it should give you an option to format SD Storage.

Soooo,

I re-installed spotify after a reboot (i deleted foldermount first) and something strange happened. Spotify installed it self on the internal storage : ok. I chose, extreme quality for the sync : ok. I try to sync à playlist offline and then checked the storage. The free space on my sd card kept increasing !! Just as if thé format was only taking effect right now. O__Ô. Anyway, the cache is using my sd now.

Thanks !

If it's crashing randomly again i'll get back to you. Otherwise, i'll know it was foldermount's fault !

Thanks again 🙂

Good stuff. Be sure to let me know how it goes so that future users with the same problem can learn from this.

Fingers crossed.

Well it crashed again. Same as above. Free space on sd card keep increasing and go from 9 go to nothing de then increases with the syncing ...

Oh. Sorry a clean install didn't fix it.

As you're rooted are you able to get a logcat of the crash?

Just a thought. Did you manage to get the SD formatted in the end? If not and that flat all existed when reinstalling spotify although it would recognise the location add available there still may have been something left over causing conflict.

This is what i suspect. Still a file left. But i cant format. How can i have a proper log of thé crash ?

Even formatting it in your phone wouldn't allow you to remove it?

Can you give this app a shot? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix

Uninstall Spotify, Install & run this app, reboot, then using a file manager try to remove the folders.

Oh, so you should have the right permissions.

What happens when you try to format the SD card in your phone?

So, format didn't work, but manually deleting all the files worked. So re installing spotify and syncing on sd card : ok
