My Question or Issue
Whenever I go to an album and click on play or click on an individual song, nothing happens. However, if I click on download then it plays. It happens on all albums. Playlists are playing fine.
I did a clean reinstall, I deleted all local files, logged out, and logged in, but nothing helps.

I have been having the exact same problem for a few weeks (months) now. I've scoured the forum for similar problems, but none of the suggested solutions work for me.
Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
@InstallationCharacte, great troubleshooting so far, we can add a few more steps to make sure we've covered all bases. Would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your PC to check if the same happens with a different account? Also, would you mind checking if the same happens using a different internet connection?
@wizmgm, could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update? Also, could you let us know if this happens across devices or only on a specific one?
We'll be on the lookout.
Hi Eni,
Not sure when it exactly happened or if there was an update. It's been a while now.
As far as I know it's on one device (my PC), but I haven't tried it anywhere else. I tried all the solutions in theses threads and it fixed nothing:

However, I just tried playing some albums and it magically worked. So, solved for now, I suppose.

@Eni
Let me rectify this. It's not working. It worked this morning. Literally the same albums that I tried aren't playing right now. I haven't closed Spotify in the meantime, all I did was play half a playlist.
Uhm. This is getting completely strange. Now it works again. With the same albums that first worked, then didn't and now work again. Didn't close Spotify inbetween.
(Not sure what in order my replies will appear, but I'm sure you'll understand).
Hey @wizmgm,
Thank you for keeping us in the loop.
We're glad to know that everything appears to be working fine by now. We appreciate the time you took reporting this issue and sharing this fix. Hopefully, this was fixed for all users.
In case another user still has this issue, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall to replace any possible damaged file from previous updates.
If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
New Premium member great but in one day I found that The Waverly Consort 1977 A Renaissance Christmas Album nor the song I want will PLAY. The green arrow play buttons momentarily swell, but nothing else. All the other albums/songs I clicked to play worked fine. I see no way to get help but here!
Saving the album fixes it for me (hitting the heart button). Additionally, I was able to remove the save and still play.
Exact same situation here - can't play albums until I save them. Can then unsave and still play.

It turned out that the issue I was having was due to the VPN. I am using VPN and as soon as I disable VPN, this issue goes away.
Hey there @InstallationCharacte,
Thanks for the post.
Spotify doesn't support the use of VPNs, so they do cause issues sometimes. Glad to hear you found out what was causing the issue for you.
Cheers.
