Spotify Connect Not Working At All

Solved!

Spotify Connect Not Working At All

Still got premium. It's worked for months, until today it decided to randomly stop working. I can see only the PS4 on both my iPod and Desktop. This is extremely frustrating as i'm paying for this service and i just sorted out all my tech issues. I've tried logging out everywhere and that hasn't worked. I feel like Spotify might be having issues with their connect system as i'm pretty darn sure it's not my end. It's worked fine for ages and nothing has changed since then.

spotify connect stopped working, did the obvious and shut it off for 5 minutes, didn't work, left stream magic unplugged for an hr, plugged it in and it works fine

Also not working here between nexus 5, ubuntu laptop and windows/ubuntu desktop. Didn't realise how very intergral this feature of spotify is.

Same here. Stopped working today. Between A desktop, Laptop and my Moto E. Bit frustrating, only bought Premium 2 days ago and already some critical problems. Im sure its just bad luck, but frustrating nevertheless.

I'm having issues between a Motorolo 4G and a Roberts 93i radio. Just stopped, the option to connect to spotify has vanished from where it ususally is.

Tried everything, cleared cache, uninstalled app, turned phone off and installed again, as well as a factory reset of the radio. Nada. Not the first time this has happened either.

Stopped working for me too (Windows 10, Mac, Galaxy S3), have been going crazy trying to figure it out. Looks like there are others. The repeat playlist options is also greyed out. May be related.

Just checked here and there's a spike of errors reported on downdetetor around 11 oclock. Seems somethings borked!

Same here between Windows 8 and ipod and iphone. It was fine until I was asked this morning to close Spotify and reopen to upgrade to the latest version. Something wrong with the new version. See attached screenshot

Mine seems to be working now. I didnt do anything special. Just restarted the app on my phone and on my PC.

Thanks for that jayleshladhu

I did that and logged off the devices and on again and it is now back on

Well done

It sometimes does "magically appear" that's true , but as previously mentioned, it mainly magically disappears as well.

Also, the spotify gets desynchronised when messing around with shuffle feature whils playing via spotify connect.

For instance now, I had spotify playing music on my server controlled via a laptop, I've created a 'playlist' by adding a few songs to 'queue' ,  the playing order did not really follow the one displayed on the spotify controlling app, so I turned on/off the shuffle. After a few songs, the server was playing something completely different than the laptop was showing, even though the paying 'progress bar' was moving alongst the track ...

lol still broken

Broken here too, after working for months.

My Galaxy S4 can't find my Pioneer 828-K receiver. Tried logging out, restarting everything, nothing works.

Also having issues, trying to use connect with my pioneer sc-2023 for a number of weeks now its not been showing up since a number of the recent spotify app updates on both windows and android. Any answers to this would be most helpful.

I registered just to post about this issue.

"Connect" never worked for me on my Galaxy Note 4 at home.  The Android app would not show any devices listed, even though my Onkyo TX-NR838 has a Spotify app and both the Onkyo and my smartphone were on the same local network.

After reading in this thread that the Windows app works, I got it to work today by opening "Spotify" on my laptop, playing a track and then clicking the "connect" icon showed my Onkyo unit.  Music began to play through my speakers.  When I looked on my smartphone, the Spotify app was running, perfectly synchronized and it showed that the TX-NR838 was the device it is connected to.

Tested it again by turning off my Onkyo, killed Spotify on my smartphone, then starting over, without running nor using my laptop.

When I started Spotify on my smartphone and played a track, there was a notification at the bottom of the app that connect devices were available.  Tapping this showed my Onkyo listed, I tapped it and it worked.  By the way, the Onkyo remote app for smartphones works great, with a fully functioning Spotify interface, as long as you are connected locally via Wi-Fi.

As someone wrote earlier, the device connection protocol is wobbly, and "helping" it via my laptop got it "over the top of the hill".

Why no response from Spotify moderator/admin staffers?

I presume this is the same problem but the last update of Spotify has stopped me being able to play on my Yamaha AV controller, before I used to be able to "Choose device to play on", now I can no longer select my Yamaha from the list. I have gone back to using Airfoil as I did before, playing on the local computer and getting Airfoil to intercept and play via the Yamaha remote airtunes speakers. However it was great to not have to use Airfoil for the last few months.

My version is 1.0.11.134.ga37df67b

Well, 4 weeks from the last post. Still broken for me. Any news around there?

Still broken for me too. I am guessing Spotify have changed their API protocols and any older products without frequent firmware updates have been left for dead 😞

I received this feedback from Spotify, but I am afraid it is too complicated for me to test:
Could you please try the following:

- uninstall the Spotify app and the Music Flow app from your iPhone, do a soft resetof the phone, then reinstall both apps
Then re-start your router. We recommend looking for exact instructions in your router manual or on the router manufacture support site likely under Port Forwarding.

Usually you'll need to open an Internet browser and type in either: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

If you are asked to enter a username/password it will have been included in your packaging or can be found on the router manufacture support site. Some common ones are:

* Username: admin/Password: admin
* Username: admin/Password: password
* Username: [BLANK]/Password: admin

Once in look for Port Forwarding. It may be in Advanced Settings or possibly have another name.

The following IP ranges should be open on port 4070:

* 78.31.8.0/21
* 193.182.8.0/21

The number 21 is the prefix length. Please check your manual for how to enter this correctly.

Seems fixed now. Windows 10 updates a lot though.
