My Question or Issue
The app will start up fine and everything works as it should. However, after a while, e.g 15 minutes, the app will just close itself. No error codes, no warning, it just closes. It will start back up fine and then the same thing will happen. I have uninstalled the app twice now and it is still happening.
Hey @Double_Downz,
Thanks for keeping us posted.
Did the clean reinstall enable you to run local files without the app crashing?
Cheers.
Did clean install twice app keeps shutting down after about 15 minutes PC Win 11 Ryzen processor 12 gb ram
Hey @TimmyInTheWell,
Thanks for posting on the Community and welcome.
Could you tell us what other troubleshooting steps you've followed so far (besides of a clean reinstall)?
Changing tunes, let us know if the issue started after a recent software update. Additionally, tell us if the app shuts down after doing a specific action (e.g. selecting a playlist, playing a song from a specific section such as the original album, playing a podcast episode).
Lastly, we recommend that you disable the option "Hardware acceleration", restart the app and let us know if the issue persists. In order to head to this option, just click on Menu (3 dots in the top left corner of the app) > View > Hardware Acceleration.
Keep us in the loop.
Any updates on this issue? I've tried all of the steps suggested in this thread but it's still happening.
Also, I've noticed that the app tends to crash after a song has finished or if I'm clicking around Spotify (eg, double clicking on a song to play, viewing another playlist or album). After I re-open Spotify again, I noticed my volume settings have gone back to default at 100%. I tend to have Spotify volume at around 75%. Not sure if this helps the dev team or not.
Hey @yoondog,
Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community.
We suggest that you head to settings > toggle on Show Local Files > toggle off all the sources that appear there > toggle off Show Local Files. Afterwards, make sure to restart the app.
On another note, could you let us know how much available storage space does your phone have? For optimum performance, we recommend having at least 1GB of free memory on your device.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
Hi @Eni, this issue happens on my Windows PC, not phone.
Hey @yoondog,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the clarification.

Also had this problem. Switch to listening from the web player in Chrome fixed it. As far as I can tell, this is literally exactly the same app since the desktop app just uses Electron to display the web player.
Hi there!
If anyone at the date, after doing all of the above, still has the same issue about their Spotify desktop app crashing all the time for no apparent reason, you can try disabling the "hardware acceleration" in the "compatibility" section of your app's settings. I had been having the same issue for about six months, tried everything I found online and nothing seemed to work. After checking the settings and noticing this feature I thought I could give it a try and so far it's been working perfectly.
My pc runs the latest update of windows 11 and I downloaded the desktop app from the official Spotify page, if anyone's wondering. Hope that can help.
It's crazy how this is still happening, but it has since then been silent.
