Want to know what you've recently listened to on Spotify?

Here's how you can access your listening history:

Desktop:

1. On the bottom right, click on the Queue icon:
   
   

    

2. Select Recently played at the top of the right panel:
   
   
   
   
3. You'll get a list of the last 50 tracks you've listened to on this device.
   Note: This is not available on the Web player.
   
   

Another way of seeing your recently played albums and playlists is via the Home page. In this section you'll find playlists, albums and artists you've been listening to recently.

Mobile:

1. On your mobile app's Home page, tap your profile picture at upper left corner of the screen and select the Listening history icon:
   
   

    

2. You'll see a list with the albums, playlists and tracks you've played recently.

Note that you can also download a copy of your personal data, which features your streaming history for the last year or for the lifetime of the account, including track information, and when and how you streamed content.

Shuffling is the easiest way to get a random mix of songs. Here's how to toggle Shuffle on or off for your devices.

Desktop

To turn on Shuffle in desktop, hit the crossed arrows icon just left of the back skip button in the Now Playing bar. It'll be highlighted green with a green dot underneath if it's on.

To turn it off, just click it again so it appears gray.

Mobile

You can hit the green 'Shuffle Play ' icon to start listening to a playlist, album, or artist profile in Shuffle.

If you have Premium you can tap on any track from an album or playlist and the songs will start playing in the order they are listed. 

You can also turn Shuffle off and on from the Now Playing view. It'll be highlighted green with a green dot underneath if it's on.

In case you don't see the Shuffle icon, check the context menu (the 3 dots at the top right) for more options.

Smart Shuffle

Be advised that the Smart Shuffle feature shares the button with the regular shuffle. To cycle through, you need to go through both. If the icon looks like this ->  this means that Smart Shuffle is on.

A Spotify URI (Uniform Resource Indicator) is a link that you can find in the Share menu of any track, album, or Artist Profile on Spotify.

When you click a link that consists of a Spotify URI (rather than an HTTP address), you're taken directly to the Spotify application, without having to go through the web page first.

To find a Spotify URI for a track, album, or artist profile:

• Go to the three dots or right-click on a song
• Open the Share menu
• Hold down the modifier key (Alt/Ctrl) and select "Copy Spotify URI"

Answer:

If you've downloaded Spotify on your desktop, and can't find how to stop it from opening automatically when you restart your computer, don't worry - here's how:

1. Click on your profile picture at the top-right corner and select Settings.
2. Scroll down to Startup and window behaviour.
3. Set Open Spotify as soon as you log into the computer to No.

You should be able to find any user in Spotify using Search, but sometimes this workaround can also be helpful:

If you can’t find another user just by typing their display name, but you happen to know their username, on desktop/ mobile try searching spotify:user:username, wherein "username" is their Spotify username (with no spaces).

Answer:

If you're having connection issues with Spotify, you may see one or more of the following: 

• All tracks grayed out
• Nothing happening when you press play, or try to use any features
• Error messages saying Spotify is offline or No internet connection detected

In such or similar cases, here's a list of troubleshooting steps that you can try:

• If everything was working fine recently, it's worth checking @SpotifyStatus on Twitter to see if there's any ongoing issues.
• Make sure Spotify isn’t in offline mode (in the app’s Settings, under Playback).
• If you’re using a data connection, check you have enough data allowance (although we recommend using WiFi if possible).
• Check your router and make sure UPnP is enabled. If it already is, turn it off, then on again.
• Check that your router allows Spotify in- and outbound, and that your firewall software allows Spotify in- and outbound.
• If you have any anti-virus, anti-hack or any other anti-software installed, try to temporarily disable it, just long enough to test your Spotify issue.
• Turn off your router, wait 10 minutes, then turn it back on again.
• Some shared or public networks (e.g. schools/work/office) restrict access to certain services. You can contact those responsible for managing the network for more information.
• If possible, try it with a different WiFi network. If it works with another connection, we recommend contacting the service provider of the original network for more information.

Also, you can double-check the following:

• Does it happen over both WiFi and 3/4G? If it happens on both then the issue isn't related to connection and is being caused by another eg: device/setup or the Spotify app itself.
• If you're using a VPN (e.g. for privacy), keep in mind that it may create access issues to some Spotify webpages.
• Which market / location are you in? Spotify is not available everywhere and this may be why you can't access it.
• If the issue keeps happening at certain hours of the day, consider that those hours may have heavier internet traffic than usual.
• If you set the streaming quality to 'High', a better connection will be necessary, which could cause problems while using Spotify in areas of low connection. You can double-check if that's the case by running a speed testing using a trusted site (e.g. http://www.speedtest.net/).

Answer:

Did you remove a playlist by mistake? Perhaps you wanted to remove it, but now you want it back?

If you deleted a playlist within the last 90 days, you can get it back immediately by using the playlist recovery feature, or:

1. Log in to your account page
2. Click Recover playlists in the menu on the left.
3. Click RESTORE by the playlist you want to recover
4. Open Spotify and find the restored playlist at the bottom of your playlist collection

Tip: You can also use keyboard shortcuts to immediately undo something you deleted:

• Cmd+Z (for Mac)
• Ctrl+Shift+Z (for Windows) 

Don’t see it? 

• Be sure to log out then in again to see them back in your playlists
• You may have created the playlist with another account. Try logging in with different details
